Short Japanese Culture Questions

New question about Lunar New Year. :clinking_glasses: :tiger2:

How big a deal is this in Japan?

I know that Japan mainly celebrates the New Year on 1 Jan, and a lot of the traditions that used to be associated with the Lunar New Year transferred to 1 Jan during the Meiji era, but I also understand that the Lunar New Year is still acknowledged as 小正月/ koshōgatsu. I am a little unclear as to whether this is celebrated to line up with the Chinese new year, and whether it is observed in a meaningful way? Is there a lot of activity for the Chinese New Year (e.g. amongst Chinese communities in Japan.) Are there traditions particular to 小正月 in Japan?

If anyone reading does celebrate, あけましておめでとう!
