How much Japanese did you consume during those 4 months you didnât do WK?
Resurrecting items even before you were done with your current items. You madman. 6000 reviews with 3000 in apprentice with 40% accuracy is like a half a year project 
. You basically have 3/4 of the whole WK in your review pile.
Kids, this is why you donât rush through WK and drop it immediately.
On the other hand, if I hadnât resurrected all those items, Iâd barely be getting anything right at all in the reviews.
Edit: On the bright side, I am getting some of the non-resurrected items right at least. And sometimes, thereâs some that I almost got right which I think should have counted but got marked wrong by WK. For example, this morning, I guessed âhonored guestâ for èČŽèł, âfinancingâ for èłæŹ and âconsciousnessâ for èŠ, but they were marked wrong.
I know what you are going through man, i have been inactive for a while and i had to start again with 5050 reviews. been cutting away at it for a while doing mostly between 100 and 250 reviews a day and i have now cut about 1000 from my list.
I use a review reorder script and iâm just going from aprentice upwards. only about 300 guru2 items left then about 1700 master items and about 2050 up for burning. i started back in februari so the going is slow and steady, but i know ill get there eventually. it sure takes a long time. its almost like starting over. its sometimes very disheartning that ive forgotten so much but im not quitting anymore until im back at 0/0.
The wall is high but not insurmountable. keep it up bro.

The difference between these numbers and the ones above is simply what is not yet up for new reviews right now.
still 5 more levels to go, but im not doing levels before i have atleast cut down 75% of this pile.
For cases like that I really like the âignore answerâ script. A lot of times Iâll type something but realize itâs wrong just as I hit enter, or Iâll type something that actually has the same meaning but I havenât been able to add a synonym for it yet, so the ignore answer function lets you not count that one. Then it gives you another chance to either get it right or add a synonym.
Accuracy was up today, so that was nice. Hopefully that means Iâm getting the hang of things.
I managed to burn éć pretty much just by guessing. Of course, thereâs no way I could have guessed both the reading and meaning perfectly if I didnât already mostly remember it. On the other hand, I was marked wrong on 錻æ due to putting âhumâ instead of âhummingâ, so I guess it balances out.

Nope, Iâm not using any scripts. Part of the reason for the low accuracy is that thereâs a lot of high level items in there that I have almost no chance on.
it might be reasonable to use a re-order script and do these by level. SRS works by repeating stuff you donât know well at shorter intervals. but if youâve got a pile of items to review which is so much larger than what you can review in a single session, the items will almost never come back at short intervals. and then the SRS pretty much stops working.
or maybe use it to re-order so that it does items at a lower SRS stage first, that might work better.
I did great on my review session this morning, but terrible on the one in the afternoon (only 25%), so I guess it mostly evened up, though Iâm still up in accuracy overall compared to previous days.

On my review session tonight, I only got 9%, although I was kind of unlucky. Also, I deserved to get è±èŠ. I only missed it because I forgot that Wanikani specifically wants âcherry blossom viewingâ for the meaning here and just wrote âflower viewingâ instread. If that counted, Iâd have gotten like 13% instead.

On some like that, Iâve just added the Japanese in romaji as a synonym. Like senpai and kouhai too. Although you canât really use hanami for other types of flowers. Iâve tried asking native speakers what they call it instead and they donât seem to have a specific word for the same action with other flowers lol.
I did the same with things like ougi and sensu. I mean they have things like Tsuzumi and Taiko as listed answers already so if I know the item I just add the synonym.
I do that sometimes as well, I just hadnât happened to do it for that particular word.
Incidentally, in yesterday afternoonâs review session, I was asked for the reading of ćčłæ° and ć ”ćš in consecutive questions. I know itâs probably just coincidence and that stuff like that will be bound to happen by chance if you do enough reviews, but I still find it amusing.

This morning, æœè±Ą came up for review again. It jumped out at me because I remember it being one of the first reviews when I started this challenge. Unfortunately, I couldnât remember the answer, so I missed it once again. I was hoping that my accuracy rate would naturally go up over time because once I saw a word I didnât know, Iâd know what it was the next time it came up, but so far that doesnât seem to be happening.
Today was pretty frustrating, with once again missing a bunch of reviews I should have gotten. For example, I remembered ä»°ă because it was one of the reviews that I missed early on last week and it came back up today, but I still missed it again due to getting distracted.
Also, I missed the âlook atâ kanji due to putting âseeâ as the meaning, which is complete BS (yes, I add a synonym in such cases, but that doesnât help retroactively).
And of course, transitive/intransitive pairs continue to be a huge pain. Iâd forgotten just how annoying they are. The latest victim is æłăŸă which I missed due to guessing wrong on transitivity for the meaning.
My review count actually went up compared to yesterday for the second time. Not that itâs too surprising. I have to run just to stay in place.

Yes, this bunch of look, see, view, viewing, look on, look at, look back on, ⊠is a pain. If encountered in a text I am pretty sure to get the meaning, but seen alone I always mix them up.
i know youâve said that you donât want to use a re-order script, but i think with so many reviews the SRS canât function properly on its own.
under normal conditions, if you fail a review, the item comes back relatively soon. then you repeat the item, and reinforce what youâve learned. this works because in normal conditions you can do all your reviews every day.
however, this doesnât work when youâve got this many reviews. if you fail an item, and do 60 reviews the next day, the probablility that that item will return is about 1%. indeed, it might be weeks or months before that item returns. the whole concept of spaced repetition crumbles.
by prioritising certain items (perhaps by level: top-down or bottom-up, perhaps by most recently reviewed, there might be other strategies) you can reduce the pool out of which WK selects the items it presents for review. and you can get your items at appropriate intervals again.
i hope you will take this post in the way it was intended: as well-intentionned advice. i can empathise with wanting to brute-force your way through this pile of reviews. however you attack this problem, i wish you the best of success! ^^
