I have been studying kanji with WaniKani for close to two years, and I have to say that I really dislike the relatively recent software change that erases the list of Recent Mistakes in 24 hours. Sorry to say that my life does not revolve around studying on WaniKani every day without fail; (which is largely why I have been on the platform for as long as I have been). I like to study at my own pace, which also means reviewing my last set of Recent Mistakes before I dive in to my studies for that sitting. I would like to see the 24 hour retention period go back to the user-based access timeline.
Thanks for the feedback! I’ll pass this information on to the team.
I’d really like a recent mistakes burned item lists so any mistakes made while reviewing burned items would go in there. I could then either pick quiz option or redo lesson just like how the recent mistakes is set up.
I also feel the 24 hour of recent mistakes is too short. Could we try at least a minimum of 72 hours (3 days) for the recent mistakes section and also do this for the recent burned item mistakes as well?
Thanks for sharing, I’ll pass this along also.
One of the benefits that distinguishes WaniKani from classroom study is that WaniKani is self-paced.
The erasure of Recent Mistakes in 24 hours goes against the aspect of self-paced learning.

I agree with the others here. I rarely get around to going over my Recent Mistakes in time. It would be nice to have some control over how long items remain in the Recent Mistakes category, perhaps in a setting.
