Yesterday’s update! Not a very heavy reading day, wasn’t feeling like reading too much in the morning, so I did other things with my day. Then I had a headache during my normal reading time in the evening
I forgot that the passage of time means it’s the second week of January. Hopefully I remind to update at the beginning of the third week of January lol. The number of hours I can work at my part time job that I can do from home got increased, so I’ll probably be devoting more time to that and less to reading. Oh well. Gotta pay the bills.
This week was busy, January 5th was my birthday and then I was back to work on the 6th and all of that stuff I decided to leave until January now needs to be done .
I knew this was going to happen though, which is I why I chose 大海原と大海原 as my book to read on non-bookclub days since its a pretty simple read and not very text dense
Read until the last chapter of シャドーハウス 10 since I ran out of freebies for the day. If I could finish this today, I would have read a volume for each day of reading
Sick of reading about snow articles so read about 鏡開き, a custom involving 鏡餅 at the ending of the お正月 period, it seems. Not a lot of vocab I will likely see until next 正月, but interesting nonetheless.
Another good day for reading, I think my reading speed and stamina have been improving somewhat, which I’m proud of. I’ve got a few new light novels due to arrive next week, so if they arrive without issues I’ll have something new to read after this volume
Missed the end of the first week so this is a first real update.
Started slow (1 chapter on Satori daily), but over time got into it more and more which resulted in average of 2 chapters/day. Pretty happy about that, as I’m also reading all grammar explanations and discussions, which takes quite some time.
Not sure what to pick as my first native book to read though - whether to bite the bullet and pick something that I feel like reading (content-wise)… which would probably end up being around the theoretical limit of my current ability. Or whether to look a bit more into often recommended titles and pick something slightly comparatively easier instead.
Everyone is different, but I went with a book I wanted to read but ending up bailing and then reading one of the recommended beginner book reads (また、同じ夢を見ていた) instead. I’ve read about 9 novels now and am just now thinking about trying that first novel again.
Started the next one. I need to switch to 国宝, the idea was that the Silent Witch is an easier read in between of 国宝 reading session, not a whole time stealer
January 8
I played 英雄伝説 碧の軌跡 and once again had to do lots of boring quests. Unfortunately most quests are boring and are just there to make the game longer.
