I started playing the game Criminal Girls Invite Only. The game is a dungeon crawler where you need to help some girls escape from hell. All the girls are criminals and this is their last chance they are in some resocialising program. You need to punish them to show them who is boss or they won’t listen to you. But this is not something I enjoy doing. For some reason there isn’t that much kanji used it’s mostly kana.

March 31st, last day of the challenge, and one full year of reading Japanese every single day! Some days just one NHK Web Easy article, but most days more than that. Manga, books and a few VNs. This winter challenge, I read mostly manga, with a little VN on the side. Just started an informal book club for the yuri VN SeaBed on Natively. Today’s reading will be SeaBed too.
This is what I finished during this winter challenge, 2 books and 16 volumes of manga:
Next challenge will probably be more books and VNs and a bit less manga.

Over these past 3 months I read 90 chapters of Chi’s Sweet Home, 15 articles on Watanoc, 13 chapters of Genki (all of book one and started book 2), and with the help of the absolute beginner’s book club I worked through Doraemon and around 18% of 10 Minute Scary Stories

This book felt super short, seriously.
Last day of the winter challenge
I’ve finished 10 books and 3 manga.
Looking at my calendar:
- January is satisfying for being all checked boxes
- February is satisfying for having finished a book a week
- March was a bit of a off-month vibe (was also disrupted by flood and the aftermath) and I didn’t get to read as consistently as I’m used to.
- I’m happy I got to finish a book during the
Spring Equinox Readathon Helped me set my brain back into reading mode. It’s so satisfying when reading goes smooth and you feel like you’re making some good progress.
I’m hoping to read more in the next challenge!

A busy month! 7 volumes complete. I’ve been a bit overloaded with bookclubs recently, so it was a relief to finish ルックバック, which was only a single volume! I also made the tough decision to not join the offshoot for ふたつのスピカ, even though I had enjoyed reading it.
Other than my inability to stop joining too many bookclubs, I’m really enjoying reading recently. If the version of me from 5 years ago could see current me she would be so happy. I may not be the fastest reader, and I regularly need to check my understanding with a translation or some help from DeepL, but I’m really proud of how far I’ve come.
Thanks to @DIO-Berry for organizing, and everyone else for reading, posting and being such great sources of motivation and inspiration.

I didn’t do a wrap-up at the end of the official challenge so I’ll do one now. I only read one full volume of manga for the official challenge. I started 生徒会役員共 1 after finishing 月刊少女野崎くん ３巻 in the middle of February and I am still reading it now. The chapters aren’t too wordy but the 4-koma style makes it seem long. Also, I had a reading challenge to finish on Reddit so I slowed down my Japanese reading so I could make it in time. So I would go into April with 2 chapters of 生徒会役員共 1 to read. I did manage to keep my streak, though.

Yesterday was pretty good. Overall I’m falling behind slightly this week. Not sure rest of week will be better.
In terms of what I’ve read this challenge, I’ve completed 12 manga this year. A couple of them were on the more difficult side. No books yet!

Some more Lover’s Kiss. I like the game you mostly just talk to girls but it’s fun they are all nice people. The protagonist becomes a member of the photography club and there is lots of photography releated vocabulary used. This game has a really nice art style imho.
This challenge was pretty diappointing I only finished five video games in japanese, one book and several volumes of manga. But at least I didn’t miss a day reading.
