Little bits of reading throughout the week, and then got a good amount done yesterday, completing two more books and making a start on a new one.

I’m still definitely slacking on my prose reading - I’ll try to avoid starting too many more manga volumes next month and use the reading time instead to get stuck into that kid’s book ha.

After reading long book, this book feels so short. I don’t want it to end :laughing: TuT I’m enjoying it tho. Bonus: I’m learning a lot of vocab relating to traditional Japanese culture.

Vocab

作務衣さむえ = monk’s clothing [1]
徳利とくり = sake bottle [2]
平茶碗ひらちゃわん = summer tea cup [3]
床几しょうぎ = folding stool
野点のだて = open-air tea ceremony
小紋こもん = fine pattern (of cloth, kimono, etc.)
懐石料理かいせきりょうり = traditional Japanese meal brought in courses
土瓶どびん = earthenware teapot [4] (for some reason there’s a slice of lime nearby on most photos)
折詰おりづめ = food packed in a wooden box (bento) [5]

Busy day today and not too much time to read. Did get through this week’s reading of ルックバック though, and half of this week’s reading of 銀の匙 Silver Spoon. That’s enough for today!

SeaBed VN today too - I started reading and couldn’t stop! That’s one thing I like about reading VNs - they grab me and pull me in more than any other medium.

デスノート Chapter 52 finished :slight_smile: I also read Yomimono 2 from Quartet 1, Chapter 4 + did the exercises.

Finished Volume 6. I’m more than halfway done :smiley: I started reading this in January I think, so I’m glad that I’m still going despite the fact that I’m obviously reading this quite slowly. Mokuro is saying that this Volume took me 17 hours to read, which probably checks out. I wish I knew how long it took me to finish the first volume :sweat_smile:

  • Last day of this challenge. In the future I might stick to the two-month on one-month off structure others use, I think it helps to not have the pressure once in a while. I read most every day anyway but it’s easier to let yourself relax this way.
  • Finished Yotsuba. Need to get more physicals, but waiting for a sale I think.
  • Wheel of Random sent me to R15+じゃダメですか? 1 | L24??, which I had assumed was an ecchi manga… and it is, but it’s actually also a film manga. Learned about The Pianist, The Reader and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre so far. Surprising!
