2nd route of 薄桜鬼 finished!
I didn’t expect to finish more than what I set out to do, which was reaching chapter 4, but thanks to the Readathon I managed to surpass my goal by a wide margin.
While 40% of the route I read was familiar as I read through it the last time as well, the other 60% were unfamiliar territory (in Japanese). It took me 5 months of daily reading in 2024 to get through the 1st route which is even a bit shorter than the one I read this time. In contrast, I was able to finish this route in 3 months.
Despite the familiar 40%, I did more lookups on grammar this time around which halted my speed but my stamina was better because I was capable of reading more than 15 minutes each session which helped progressing relatively quickly still.
By finishing my 2nd route of 薄桜鬼 I read roughly 260’590 characters and for a total of 51 hours and 49 minutes during the Winter Challenge. (According to my calculations and tracking app.) I’m quite satisfied with my result. ![]()
After March 27, I decided to take a break from reading before the next Read Every Day Challenge that would start on April 1st. However, I didn’t end up participating in the Spring Challenge at all because I was sick throughout most of April, had trouble resuming my Japanese reading habit in May and decided against joining late.
