Started the next major project, 薬屋の独り言1 LN. With the eng to parallel read with and the anime fresh in my mind, should hopefully be a little bit easier. But going to temper my expectations as well… and take frequent breaks, maybe split by anime episode or thematic arc (chunking 逆転裁判 worked quite well for my confidence, so hopefully something similar will occur here).
A bit more 焼いてる二人、it’s not quite as chill to read as よつばと but that’s okay
Read 3-75pp (last week’s, this week’s & next week’s assigned reading for IMBC). For NANA as well as ルックバック I’m trying to re-read previous sections as well as new sections so I can feel like I’m reading.
Good reading. Had a day for appointments and various things needing to be done for next academic year, so got plenty done instead of normal work. I had a long train ride but I spent 2 hours on it playing Pokemon Violet instead of reading, so all my reading was done at coffee shops and the library later on. I wish my town had more than 1 coffee shop… I love it, and the owner and staff are lovely, but god every time I visit the “city”, I’m just so overjoyed by the multitude of different places to sit and read.
Anyway, 3 hours of pokemon and a lot of reading got done. Really very much liking すべてがFになる, so far it reminds me a lot of various English mystery stories I read when I was younger (Falcon’s Malteser anyone?? There’s another series I’m trying to think of which is closer but I can’t remember it for the life of me). It’s a pretty much absolutely perfect Japanese level for me at the moment as well. Hardly any grammar I need to look up, just some vocab which I might or might not be able to work out from context. That basically means I can choose to look up every word I don’t know (given there’s not many compared to other stuff I’ve read recently) and work on vocab, or I can just read it purely for reading’s sake.
Tomorrow will be a bit less, back to normal work. I might “finish” off Try! N2 though (finish as in finish my first run-through of every grammar point, will be a few more weeks till I review everything as review phase is only at about 65% through).
Starting to pick up some momentum I feel on the light novel, but it is exhausting a little to read it for long periods of time. I’m tackling it at about 2-3 pages a day. Slow and steady!
Also read the next week’s section for 10 min scary stories. It actually felt fairly smooth to read comapred to the first week, despite lacking in kanji and I’m enjoying it so far!
Ha, future me is not doing that math. 久しぶり Read Every Day chat! I am alive. and I have been reading. except for a handful of days that I forgot to precisely track, whoops. I’m not sure I’ll keep a good record for the rest of the month, but I’ll get the next thread up this week and make sure everything’s in order
Lots of manga reading today too! One chapter from 焼いてるふたり, one chapter from [作りたい女と食べたい女, one chapter from 事情を知らない転校生がグイグイくる one chapter from ひとりぼっちの○○生活.
I also cleaned out my pile of “Reading” books, deleting a couple of books and adding a couple of books. Now my pile has mostly books that I really want to read and really enjoy. I want to get better at dropping books or manga if I find that I don’t enjoy it after reading a few pages.
Cool to hear the positive stuff you have to say about this book – I picked it up on a whim a little while back but haven’t tried it yet. Maybe I should get around to that.
oh good, someone else with it trapped on their to-read pile i picked it up after watching the anime adaptation (which was a very interesting watch) but still haven’t got around to it yet…
March 10
Like every day reading some Konosuba vol.1. Only read 19 pages there is some action, this makes reading it much more interesting. I hate the parts, when they just talk.
I think I forgot to post yesterday? I keep losing logged days somewhere. Oh well.
More Maomao. I think this is probably from reading the eng so recently and remembering specific turns of phrase, but I’m finding this surprisingly easy to read (at least with instant lookups), which is nice.
Just one of those days where things go wrong. One of my teachers didn’t turn up which threw work into chaos, then my computer broke, then later I came down with a truly horrible migraine (which had started building yesterday). As a result of which I did essentially nothing today compared to usual, barely any proper study, no watching anything, no Pokémon, no novels, just some manga. No point feeling bad about it, hopefully I can sleep well and be back to normal.
11/3 8 pages 明日の世界で星は煌めく (read week 6), 14 pages Nana (finished week 1, started next), aDoAJG どうにも〜ない and 同士
Well I’ve had a morning off before an evening shift, then 3 days off, so reading has gone pretty well. Still didn’t achieve quite as much as I hoped, but never mind.
I’m now nearly up to date with all manga, and think I should manage to catch up to them all this week, despite adding Nana to the pile. I’ve caught up to this week’s reading of the advanced dictionary, and am making progress in the intermediate (which I haven’t logged - but at a time).
The next few days I’m working so I’m planning just to finish my manga reading for the week plus a bit more of 明日の世界で星は煌めく and the dictionary.
