okay so i did end up reading psycho-pass and it maybe wasn’t the most efficient use of my time (plus i had to look up two quotes partway through) but i did it! no manga or anything tho.

Today I played a bit Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. I’m still near the beginning of the game trying to reach the Mako reactor.

- Continuing 蘇る逆転。Got through two rounds of witness evidence (though one round progressed automatically without needing to present anything, but the next round needed three pieces of evidence, so I felt a bit justified). The most annoying part by far is the video evidence gimmick - I can’t believe you can’t scrub the footage when reviewing it, and then when you can scrub the footage, it’s so slow, and then when 成程 re-explains it for the judge you have to sit through 15-20 seconds of mind-numbing scrolling…
- A bit more 少女漫画じゃない！, it’s odd to say but I feel like I’m getting better at feeling a writing’s ‘style’ and this feels noticeably more… like a manga, oddly enough. But it’s a relatively comfy read, so that’s nice.
- I’m running into failure rates in my SRS again which is getting me down lol. Past the early easy hump and into the ‘actually you haven’t seen this word for nearly a month, do you still remember it? No? RED CARD’

Was off today so decided to have a cozy reading day. Did like 50 pages from my children’s novels! A full chapter from both werewolf survival and zenitendou. Was so tempted to read to the end of werewolf survival but I stayed strong. And just a little 八雲 before bed but I got sleepy.

Spent the last two days completing the last chapter in Vol 2 of Phantom Busters. One of the hardest things I’ve read personally so far with a tonne of new vocab and polite speech forms. Going to go back to some easier content for a while before I tackle volume 3.

For me I would class anything that I read a few months back as old. I tend to do this in the evening when I have less motivation to look everything up. I intensively read in the mornings and look up every unknown word and even though I still enjoy these sessions, sometimes it’s nice to go back over older content and just chill with it.
Yeh I think for me I need to find a nice balance between being okay with natural SRS and helping the process by using Anki for some things. From my experience personally, words I’ve put into Anki I feel I am more likely to remember the next time I come across them, and as long as the process isn’t taking too much time away from reading I’m okay with it for now.

Bits and pieces around the main reading of week 2 of 風立ちぬ. Gotta say, going back from something like that written in the ‘30s to something more simple and modern makes it feel so easy by comparison.
Tomorrow will read more than today hopefully. And on the weekend I’m gonna read a load! Think based on my plan and progress I’ll hopefully finish 2 or 3 books plus a volume of Conan by end of Monday!
