Started the next volume of チーズスイートホーム and read chapter 二十一.
I really got a kick out of this chapter, チー is just like my cat Miles. Potential spoiler for ch21: once he got a taste of human food, it’s his mission to steal food off your plate right in front of you.

Two small, but very interesting chapters. No Maomao, but I like other characters’ point of view as well, end especially Jinshi’s.
Hellooooooo everyone who’s reading this (probably not many). Haven’t done an update post in a few days, but I thought it’d be good to do so.
First things first, I sadly missed a day of reading. I’ve already forgotten to why I didn’t but it could be in relation to myself going to the gym for the first time ever this week, which may have overloaded myself.
I’ve finished BabySteps volume 5, and am too broke to buy volume 6 
but that’s alright. Instead I decided to get the 3 month 99yen priced kindle unlimited offer, and have got many new mangas to read including Ao Ashi (haven’t read ever but watched it a few years back), Full Metal Panic, and DogSled. I’ve read very little of Phantom Busters, as I believe it’s just out of my level and is quite difficult to read, but I should get back to this soon.
I’m soon about to make some sentence cards for the first time, instead of just individual words, and hopefully that’ll challenge myself a bit more.
I’ve been enjoying reading a lot, but I need to step away from it more and prioritize my weaknesses of listening and output more, but that doesn’t mean I won’t read at least one chapter of a manga a day.
TL:DR Overall, I’m enjoying reading a lot. I’ve finished BabySteps vol 5, and bought kindle unlimited for 3 months for 99yen (what a bargain). I will lay back on the reading slightly to focus on listening and output more, but will still try read at least 1 chapter a day.

Wow, another week finished! Last week, I finished よつばと! 2 and today I decided to try NHK Easy News again (tried to read articles in the past, never finished one) and I think I’m at the point where I can read them! Of course, I used Yomitan when needed but who doesn’t? This reading every day thing is really working out for me!

Quick recap of the month so far -
Novel-wise, finished また、同じ夢を見ていた and 変な家 (both started in late december, with most of the reading done this month). Also got through ホリミヤ 1 and 2 in terms of manga.
What I want to do this challenge -
Finish a few more novels and a few more volumes of manga. Maybe 3 novels as a rough minimum by the end of February, to keep good pace for the year as a whole.
Other stuff I’m doing -
Not directly relevant, but I’m also doing textbook study for the N2 in July, after taking N3 last december. All this reading is my way of sorting out the reading section for sure.
On top of that, watching plenty of Japanese content on Netflix with JP subs, and playing Pokemon Violet on Switch when I feel like it (0 hours some weeks then 10 the next, bit sporadic, not tracking of course).

Finished 魔性の子, moving onto the first book of 月の影 影の海!! 魔性の子 was unsettling (in a good way) and exposed the raw and unslightly parts of humanity, ironically given that the actual killing is done by otherworldly monsters haha didn’t finish as fast as I thought I would because I got sucked into touken ranbu hell and my reading material became 攻略 guides

two chapters of 3月のライオン, almost finished the volume. these kids have more emotional maturity and foresight at their age than most adults
also another ten pages of psycho-pass. is it deliberate that each section/chapter is 5 pages long??
apparently not today’s two sections were five and four pages respectively, and then the next one is also four. back to updates not multiples of ten for the foreseeable future, i think

One chapter of ふらいんぐうぃっち and one chapter of 恋より青く today. I want to read faster, but I don’t want to finish the series! Reading one chapter per day seems like a good compromise.
Went back to Frieren to compare manga vs. LN. Interesting to find that, although the images give lots of context, the grammar is less complex, and there’s furigana on pretty much everything, the words are actually less common as compared to Haruhi. Maybe that’s to be expected, given the subject matter. It feels odd to be looking up words with N1 kanji all over the place in what’s otherwise fairly simple language.
