Finished off another chapter of ふらいんぐうぃっち 2 tonight. Usually I leave the reading until much later in the evening than this so now I don’t know what to do with all this free time, maybe some more reading? 
It’s also one month of daily reading completed!! Proper chuffed with myself and well done to everyone else on the thread for your hard work too! 
I genuinely enjoy following along in here each day! Now I’m gonna start getting messed up with numbering my days because I can’t just copy the date anymore haha!
I’m really glad to hear that! I usually look up grammar points on Bunpro but I decided on Marumori instead because I kept seeing people say that the explanations of grammar points are done in a more accessible way. I was also thinking that the kanji refresher would be useful too!

Totally. I’ve been using it since late last year and I like it! I started grammar with Bunpro and tried Renshuu, but MM is the one that’s really worked for me. I don’t use the vocab as much because I feel like I’d just be doing SRS endlessly, but if I want to add SRS vocab I use it instead of Anki to keep my apps consolidated. I’d recommend it!
The new MaruDex OCR tool is pretty neato too!

Oh man I really wanted to like Renshuu because the work and sentiment behind it is very admirable but every time I try to use it I just bounce straight off it. Makes me feel like I’m too snobby about aesthetics I’m glad to see another advocate for MM though, feels like I’m making a good choice!

Looks like Kanzaki has Terry as being taller than Botts. Either he doesn’t see Terry as being short, or he sees both of them as short.
I didn’t do too great book-reading-wise this month. I read (finished) 1 novel in EN, 1 novel in JP, 6 volumes of manga in JP, and 5 doujinshi in JP, for a total of 13. That brings me to 124 books total read this year.
Also, I didn’t notice until today, but as of two days ago, I’ve got 500 books read on Bookmeter! (That’s not counting rereads.)

I hope this challenge will help me to feel like reading one chapter of manga is enough to get joy on those too-busy-for-hobbies days.

Had a pretty busy day of errands and events and whatnot, but got to read two more chapters of 愛でたいセンセイ as well as some nice efforts towards SRS and studying. Tomorrow I have more of a chill day so I’d like to get more reading in. Maybe even something mini-readathon worthy!
Now that my vocab and understanding of how sentences are actually put together have improved through reading, I want to try to get more listening practice in, I think. I’ve dabbled in some podcasts here and there, and lately my ability to parse words and sentences has greatly increased. Recognizing the meanings of words in real time is starting to come along, but I still have a ways to go in putting it all together to understand sentences.
All this to say that I tried listening to an audiobook of short stories for Japanese learners today while doing some chores and it went okay. Didn’t necessarily have my full attention on it, but did have moments of clarity where I could keep up for a bit or recognize the gist of some parts.
Yeah, I feel you on this. There were parts that I really liked about Renshuu-- the vibe, the user discussions on questions, the business model and developer, to name a few-- but ultimately it felt like the SRS just dragged out forever and the UI didn’t feel responsive and wasn’t flexible enough on different screen sizes. I find MaruMori’s grammar explanations to be very thorough and have nicely curated examples to really help give context to how the point should be used. I could certainly nitpick a few things here and there, but I’ve at last finished N5 with MM after starting it several times and that’s totally worth something!!!

He did a print of this same shrine awhile back, but this time instead of obscuring it with the cherry blossoms he’s framed it with them instead. I like the contrast of the pink blossom with the green roof.

Another from the “8 Views of Tokyo” series. Really cool perspective on this one. This version is much more green than the version in the artbook, which is more blue.

Another revisit to a place he has already done a print of (think this makes the 3rd time he’s done a print of this temple).
I love the view out into the city as the crowd and the buildings fade into the city lights.

Slowly and steading moving forward with 四つ子ぐらし especially now that I’ve finally downloaded a Japanese-English dictionary for my Kobo which works very well (link here, if anyone is curious). This is especially helpful for the abundant onomatopoeia!
As I approach the end of Yotsubato I have been asking myself what manga I’d like to follow up with. My partner suggested trying to read something by Clamp, and thought Tokyo Babylon might be a good choice.
I recently discovered, as well, that a lot of people sell Japanese-language books on the second-hand shopping app Vinted (very popular where I live), and I found someone selling all the volumes of Tokyo Babylon for a very reasonable price so I went ahead and bought them:
Feel like it’s a bit of a risk because the Natively level is higher than what I’m accustomed to and I’m not sure if I will really get into it, but it could be a good challenge to get me out of my comfort zone.
Today: finished Chap. 53 of よつばと.

Daily reading done
I feel tension building and I don’t like it lol. But I read another chapter and learned some new vocabulary and new readings for kanji I already know.
Interesting idea: satori reader could implement a vertical reading mode to get readers used to that. I don’t find vertical sentences challenging when I read Tadoku stories, so it’s not a big issue, but it would be a nice option.
