i normally take it easier at the weekend but i really wanted to know how parasyte ended so i read pretty much the entire the final volume. really good, thoroughly enjoyed the whole way through. just got the author’s note which was pretty long so i’ll do that another day
longer thoughts
the art’s great (except for some of the characters looking slightly too similar), i like how shinichi’s trauma response to everything that happens to him is portrayed even without it being an overt focus of the story, and him and ミギー’s relationship is solid.
my two real peeves with it are that shinichi’s dad just kind of vanishes from the story and there’s never a resolution to that mini-arc even tho there’s implied to be one coming, and my other one is murano. she’s such a non-character that i was willing to put it down to an ‘of the time’ problem but then the author had the gall to give her her most interesting character moment in the last few pages and now i’m just upset at what could’ve been.
it feels a little bit aimless after the reiko stuff ends and some stuff could’ve done with being expanded on but on the whole i really liked it.
content warnings i’d add would be for gore, death (a lot of death), grief, threat to an infant, one instance of on-page necrophilia, and that one sex scene.
