I haven’t missed a day from the last challenge, hope I can keep it up for this challenge. I will be continuing what I have been doing last challenge which is reading Yotsuba&
Working my way up through the Natively levels with old book club picks, my goal is to finish most of the series under level 20 by the end of the year so I have picked up the pace in my daily reading to achieve that. Also following along with the Absolute Beginner Book Club since most of their picks are under level 20, next year I plan to graduate to the Beginner Book Club along with their level 20+ picks.
If I don’t have time to read for the day, I’ll at least try to read an article from NHK News Easy or Watanoc
Some details on how I plan to finish these by the end of the year:
Teasing Master Takagi-San and Uncle & Cat - finish one volume of each every 3 weeks. Uncle & cat is shorter, so once that is finished I’ll pick up the pace on Teasing Master.
Shikimori-San is not just cute - finish a volume every 2 weeks.
Doraemon - one chapter per week should be enough to finish all of the graded readers.
Misc - one chapter per week should be enough to get through some of the miscellaneous shorter series.
Newer book club picks - no set plan or goal yet other than keeping up with regular reading as much as time permits.
Book club picks unavailable on Bookwalker - skipping for now because I want to keep everything on one service. I may revisit those picks in the future.
Looking forward to another seasonal reading challenge (Autumn for us in the southern hemisphere). I won’t be ticking any boxes here (that’s for my study log) but I will try and keep a record of what I’m reading and what I’ve read

Originally I had not planned to continue my perfect streak from the winter challenge, but I’ve honestly gotten so used to reading every day that it feels wrong not to!
This time I want to read a lot of manga, yes, but also I don’t want to feel bad about playing video games that I find beneficial to reading. I’ve added a “sections completed” column so that I can track some progress for games other than time. Right now I’m playing a farming sim, for example, so a section might be a day. Idk, maybe this’ll be more hassle than it’s worth, but right now the idea feels good.
I’m not sure that I want to set any number goals for myself, either, really. I did that for February and it just added stress and didn’t motivate me much. I think at this level I want to feel free to spend as much time as I need on learning as I read, and a speed goal would deter from that I think. The real motivator for me is keeping the streak going while reading at least 30 minutes per day, so let’s call that my goal!
Generally, I do want to compare my times and pages to the winter session. It’ll be interesting to see how it does or doesn’t change.
Interesting theory, you may be onto something… Look, I’m just saying if there were a relevant food pic to share that I for one would enjoy it. (Is there a food thread somewhere??)
Reading, eating, these words can sound very similar - maybe there is a connection
I’m looking forward to reading with you and everyone else, too! The readathon has been a lot of fun already and now there’s a lot that I want to continue reading
