I’m going slowly through this book but I’ve found it less daunting to read through than the pile of light novels I have haha
A few things that makes it easier for me to pick it up and read I think are:
The stories are short. The shortest was 4 pages, the longest 8 so far. Because of that there isn’t too much world building or set-up of the characters, it goes rather quickly into the action if that makes sense?
Being able to understand 85%+ of the words does provide me with some confidence and help me to keep going. My kanji knowledge being much deeper now thanks to WK has been a great asset as well. The vocabulary doesn’t get weird like the type of light novel I’d like to read (fantasy/isekai genre)
Even if I don’t completely get the story, I can read the next story and come back to it later. This hasn’t happened yet.
I like sci-fi so the stories appeal to me, and the ideas and themes in these stories feel familiar.
Decided to read some folktales by 小泉 八雲 / Lafcadio Hearn next. I was trying to find his folkstory collection in Japanese but it seems that he only released the collected works version in English, so going to go through the individual Japanese ones in the order that they appear in the English collection.
とんがり帽子のアトリエ - 11 pages read up to page 125 of vol. 1! I finished everything from the first two episodes of the anime. Now to work on covering the next one…
I think I read for about an hour. I’m getting sloppy on the timings. I’ve started voice dictating the manga (the words I do know, or think I know) into an app and it’s pleasing to see it write what I’m reading out loud. I think I’m getting a little faster, and today I had a word from today’s lessons come up!
I read the 3rd book of Happiness series , this book was a wild ride ! but now i will be changing series now cause its getting more and more hard to read as now even keigo is entering the scene….bless my pweasse…
I don’t believe this, it bloody ended on a cliffhanger before the case was resolved… going to have to read the next vol soon-ish… even if I already know the ending lol.
