Ooe continues to be absolutely beautiful, but the vocabulary is SO hard. T_____T
the intro is tougher than a lot of what comes after. once more of the characters get introduced and there starts to be more dialogue mixing up the more abstract, metaphor-laden prose sections it does get easier. then again having knowledge of the anime probably helps 
(even if they’re quite different in practice)
there’s no harm in trying again! it’s never going to get any shorter though, unfortunately…

Getting back into reading mode and without dozing off 
Not a bad idea to prioritize reading early in the evening rather than just before bedtime. Felt like I was going at a good pace too.

In general work is crazy right now and I can’t really focus well. I think I’ll take June off from the challenge, about time for a reset (though will probably still read a lot as I’ve got the habit now)
Chapter 96 of デスノート finished 
Really hard day at work today. I was quite tired and didn’t really feel like reading today, but I did it anyway and I’m glad I did. Tomorrow I will try to finish Volume 11 (two chapters left).

Another 8 day update!
I did pretty well until yesterday when work was busy then chatted to a friend on the phone for a while.

Spent some time today working on a fic I’d hoped to finish a while back. Finally finished the first section, but since I just kept going back over that obsessively instead of working on the last section, I decided to go ahead and post it as its own chapter and remove it from the doc. That first “half” is nearly 1900 words, and the second “half” is approaching 2300, which means I’ve already got over 4k words total and it’s still got a fair ways to go. I hope I do manage to finish it. I never finish anything this long.

かぜつよ should be easy enough to read at work and I won’t have to find another one for that, but I suppose we’ll see. If I do, I’ll be grabbing one off my 天沢夏月 pile.

This one is pretty wild. It’s a haori jacket from the 1870s detailed with rather graphic images of several executions, the book even questions who would wear such a thing. It was created on request but the person who requested it remained anonymous.
23rd may 
wanted to read more of 風 but i don’t have time for another twenty pages today :(( finished my manga read and i’m up for reading more of that! nice and easy, likeable cast and i wanna know what happens next! lots of wordplay and it’s a short series too. the volume i read actually had a sample of another manga tacked on the end but the premise didn’t immediately grab me so i didn’t bother with it.

乳と卵 is good, and is actually enjoyable, but it’s also something I really need to push myself to do more than just a bit of. The writing style just does not make for easy-brain-free reading.
Wooh, I actually read quite a lot more than I remembered of 時々 both last night and this evening. I will try to read just a little more before bed again, for tomorrow’s numbers.
It’s been an on and off week for reading, but a good, busy week for studying overall. Been a bit distracted by N2 prep, which will continue for the next month and a bit. It feels like I’ve started the final push, even though it’s still like 6 weeks away! Maybe going too early.
I will genuinely try to make a strong push through some stuff the next 2 weekend days. Probably will finish 時々, and try and make a big push through either 変な絵 or 乳と卵 as well. Clear some stuff, ready for starting new books!
Also will try do a bit of manga, I haven’t read much recently.
Finished Chapter 97, Chapter 98 (and with this one, Volume 11) and Chapter 99 of デスノート
Today’s reading session went pretty well. I think for the first time it felt more like actually reading rather than looking at jisho every 30 seconds. I wonder how the last volume will go.

A little manga today, Flying Witch, and a little 時間割男子 for the Natively book club. I’m reading too many books now! I need to finish 2 books now before I start 1 new. Easier said than done! So many books I want to read, so little time…

I finished the second book! I liked it very much, it is dynamic and pleasant to read.

I should be approaching the end of ToM, but while we have made it to lv 42, we have yet to find one single class change item, for which the minimum level is 38. Yeah… I’m hoping this is beatable as the second class.
Anyway, I’m glad I got this game on sale. It kind of feels like that one meme:

Granted, I don’t know how much is just me missing stuff from all the cutscene dialogue being auto-advance, but the story’s… stupid, and doesn’t really make sense. If the writing were better, I wouldn’t mind the similarity to DQ since it wouldn’t be so close to “cheap knock-off” territory then. (Also granted, I don’t know if DQ established the formula or if it’s merely that I’m familiar with it from DQ. But it makes me yearn for DQXI. I still wanna try and finish it, though, at least for now.)
