新完全マスター・読解・N1: finished, 2h50m
Yay, I finished the book! And I think I won’t do any reading exercises anymore before the exam.
I also finished all new chapters in the grammar book, but I still plan to do some tests and reread some sections, so I’m not really finished with the book itself.
Apart from that, I did a mock exam and scored 119, which is good! For passing I need 100, so I believe I have some chances at passing.

I played some 英雄伝説 碧の軌跡. Meeting these people you know from Trails of Sky was awesome. Interesting it seems there are quite a few groups who want to assassinate these politicians visiting Crossbell lol. Things will become interesting soon.
Also did some karaoke for a change.

So von Karma’s name in JP is “hunting demon” (狩魔). I hadn’t gotten far enough in the game to meet him, and I never paid attention to the credits in the anime, so this is my first time seeing it in kanji.

Mock grammar tests, 1h30m
I am ashamed, but I want to post these scores here to show you that not everything is rainbow and pony. One test was 5/19 (wat?), another one was okey-ish, 10/19. And this is after I started to think that I have chance at passing.
But I’m surprisingly not upset, I still believe that I can make it better. There are some grammar points missing in the Shinkanzen book, and some require more polishing and practice, so it is good that I have enough time to do many mock tests before the exam

I find it funny that anyone (aside from her father) would describe Karuma Mei as cute, even if it is as a young child. まあ、見た目だけでは……
Hah, and her name is spelled 冥, a.k.a. Hades/hell. Certainly fitting for that little demon.

lol I wonder if Madoy put that in there because of the parrot. Though I’m also loving the comparison of Mei to an animal. And Karuma’s rage at the slight.
I tried to finish the 2001 section today bc I’m curious what the 2016 section will be about (and I wanna know how the trial goes ofc), but unfortunately I’ve still got about 10 pages left. It might not be very many, but I’m too sleepy. Tomorrow.

So the time traveller is not actually a time traveller… or at least, he didn’t come from 2016. It still seems to be true that he believes his future self visited him when he was a kid and told him that he’d successfully build a time machine, and that sparked his obsession with them. He believed his time machine would be finished in 2016, which is why he told Yuuko that’s when he came from.
His name also wasn’t Kitamita Kouta. That’s the name that his rival, Komori Kouta, will soon have. He’s actually Aoyagi Kyousuke. Neither did his rival kill his wife Kitamita Erika in 2012—though it’s possible that it was four years before that Kouta stole her from him. I don’t know if Kyousuke and Erika ever dated, but they did have feelings for each other… and it kind of sounds like she was pressured into choosing Kouta as her fiancé. Kyousuke was good to her, but he wouldn’t make a good husband, work-life-balance-wise and presumably financial-stability-wise since very few people would believe time travel to be achievable and want to fund his research. There’s also the fact that he’s a ハブられし者. Kouta treats her like shit, but he’s charismatic and would make a good husband… aside from the whole “he’s an abusive POS” thing. And the way he treats her in public, in front of other people? I don’t know if he beats her, but I would be more surprised if he didn’t start. And I can definitely see him one day killing her, assuming he doesn’t go away for Kyousuke’s murder (and doesn’t get out). Shin certainly thinks him capable of killing her, too; he’s hesitant to call Erika to the stand because he fears Kouta killing her when he finds out she testified against him if Karuma still ends up winning and thus Yuuko gets sentenced instead of Kouta.
Anyway, Kyousuke’s still got a supercomputer(?) (大計算機 or DKK, a computer specializing in doing calculations) running calculations that he needs for his time machine at his old lab. He and Kouta were the two remaining competitors for funding from Erika’s father, and after Kitamita decided to go with Kouta and his cold sleep pod, Kyousuke was let go with a large severance package. Before he left, he put a lock on the DKK which could only be opened with his fingerprint to prevent anyone from messing with its commands… so it would still finish with its calculations in 2016 and he could then finally finish his time machine.
So the 2016 section will probably have something to do with that… but what?
I got an email from CDJapan today about the release of the second volume of 境界のメロディ and at first thought Media Works Bunko had gotten added to my Favorite Artists and Series but didn’t remember checking out any books published by them lately… but then I saw that ItoKen is one of the seiyuu who worked on the included drama CD, so it’s probably that. In any case, they seem interesting, so they’ve gone in my bookmarks. It’s about a guy who hasn’t played music since his music-making partner died three years before… and then suddenly said partner appears before him once more, and not as a ghost. He’d forgotten something, but once he returned to Earth, he forgot what it was.
I don’t need more books, but I’m probably gonna get more books with their next coupon.
