ouran chap 45 down, just one more left in the volume! i donโ€™t know if itโ€™s just this arc but i feel like iโ€™ve doing wayyyy fewer look-ups than i used to in the earlier volumes. on the other hand, ็ฃ(ใ‘ใ‚‚ใฎ)ใฎๅฅ่€…(ใใ†ใ˜ใ‚ƒ) threw a bunch of bee-keeping terminology at me so ig it balances out :joy: finished that now, interested in reading more! itโ€™s definitely aimed at a teenage-YA audience (aka not me) but the world-building is interesting and clearly has a lot of thought put into it. might check out the original books too to see the differences (tho iโ€™m betting thoseโ€™ll be less accessible). another ten pages or so of the bakumatsu book (will probably translate one later)

todayโ€™s nhk articles were this one and this one, plus the entries on ใฃใฝใ„ and ๆฅ(ใ‚‰ใ„)in aDoIJG

words that stood out: bees edition

ๆกœ่˜ญ(ใŠใ†ใ‚‰ใ‚“)๏ผš
้š ๅฏ†(ใŠใ‚“ใฟใค) - clandestine, stealthy, or (in this case) spy (for a daimyo, shougun etc.)

็ฃ(ใ‘ใ‚‚ใฎ)๏ผš
ๅˆ†ๅฐ(ใถใ‚“ใฝใ†) - swarming, hiving off
็Ž‹ๅฐ(ใŠใ†ใ ใ„) - queen/royal cell of a bee hive
่ฝ(ใŠ)ใฃใ“ใจใ™ - to drop, to lose, to fall. ่ฝ(ใŠ)ใจใ™ but ้–ขๆฑๅผ(ใ‹ใ‚“ใจใ†ในใ‚“).

thanks! iโ€™m mostly used to her handwriting by now but sometimes sheโ€™ll throw me a curveball
