I have lost count again. Also still 1 week too late.

Words of the day
  • ペンキ(.) = paint. Just like that インキ is ink.
  • まやかし = fake; make-believe. The verb is まやかす. Somewhat similar to 誤魔化(ごまか)し / 誤魔化(ごまか)す.
  • 轍(てつ)を踏(ふ)む = to repeat a mistake. The first Kanji standalone is also 轍(わだち) (= rut; wheel track), though also used in 途轍(とてつ)もない (= absurd).
  • 憂(う)さ晴(ば)らし = distraction from worries. Somewhat similar to 気晴(きば)らし.
  • 腕(うで)っ節(ぷし) = physical strength
  • 下(した)っ端(ぱ) = lowly underling
  • 殺風景(さっぷうけい) = tasteless. “Destruction” of scenery, 風景(ふうけい).
  • 頭領(とうりょう) = boss. Somehow meaning becomes somewhat like 棟梁(とうりょう).
  • 水餃子(すいぎょうざ) = boiled 餃子(ぎょうざ).   饅頭(まんとう) is also there, but I believe it’s of Chinese kind.
  • 紹興酒(しょうこうしゅ) = Shaoxing wine - Wikipedia
  • ガチョウ = goose = 鵞鳥(がちょう)
