I wasn’t really thinking about motivation. More excitement and anticipation about reading. And in many ways, I think it is because it proved less hard than I thought it would be to read.
Well, Zenitendou is perhaps a bit of an outlier, because while the language hasn’t proven too hard (although switching to narrative text again did take a bit to getting used to), I seem to have very little stamina for reading it. When I can easily gobble up a 50-page chapter of manga but 3 pages of a book (that isn’t that hard) is tiring, that seems to be some kind of stamina problem.
So anyway, being enthusiastic more about diving into more reading and trying new mediums, and being willing to lead a book club, and so on. All that stuff. ^^
I passed out yesterday before I could even think about posting lol. I was finally able to do the first coat of paint on my shelves, and it’s more exhausting than I thought, even with a roller brush, and even with being able to use it with either my right or left hand.
I read 4 pages of 明日をくれた君に, leaving off on pg 51. I’m almost done with ch 1!
I kinda miss how in 2.43, each chapter is further divided into subchapters. Granted, the chapters are about twice as long as in this, and yeah, there are still sections demarcated by asterisks and/or a blank line, but the satisfaction of coming to the end of a subchapter is only a little less than that of coming to the end of a chapter, a.k.a. way more than coming to an asterisk or a white line break, or whatever the hell those are called. Need me the serotonin.

This challenge really got me to increase my abilities and read more than before. I think it’s helped me to be able to potentially reach my goal of reading 50 books/volumes this year as well.
It’s been a pretty challenging year for me and I’m realizing that I’m not one of those people who can fall back on routine when I’m not doing well. I need time to process and recover. That’s super clear when you look at my data in graph form.
Mid to late May held several health problems in store for me and I just didn’t have energy to do much. Then you can see I was getting back on track while trying to also catch up with work and something happened. Physically I’m alright and nothing happened to me, but it’s something that I’m still working on processing.
Other than that, I wanted to finish strong last night, but I ended up pulling an all-nighter for work I got the work done at least.

Okay yesterday got a little rushed but I do wanna do a final summary thing lmao:
A lot happened this challenge! By the official end I’d finished two games and started AI: The Somnium Files, and I’ve since finished that and gotten a good bit into バディミッションBOND, which is pretty cool! The prospect of finishing multiple narrative games in a few months is pretty wild honestly, it’s not a point I would’ve ever expected to be at now if you asked me in like January
I’m 40% into 海辺のカフカ which is definitely the furthest I’ve gotten in a novel; keeping up with book club pace has been really encouraging too. Other than that, I read some random bits of 風つよ and other things, and ended up finishing 6 manga as well (5 of which were in two days lmao, chaos as always).
Overall this challenge was a great experience! As always I’m so grateful to these threads and everyone in them; they’ve truly been life-changing I look forward to seeing you all again in the summer challenge!
Was camping and didn’t keep good track of what I read when, so it’s approximate. Seems that with the last update the calendars broke, idk what happened there. Anyway I added the readings of June to the list. Finished reading through YKK volume 3 and Spy x Family Novel, also started Flying Witch volume 1, which I’ll finish tomorrow. YKK was pretty comfy to read, whereas Spy x Family Novel definitely took more effort. Flying Witch has been a good light read as well and I’ll take that with to the summer challenge.
Regarding Persona 4 Golden, I’ll make a separate post in the next thread. I was able to beat the first dungeon and there’s some free time to fill in when I get back to it again. I didn’t bring the steam deck with me, so no progress this week and next week.
I was able to read everything I had planned to read, so it has been a succesful challenge again. Read 3 books and 12 manga volumes. I’m also on schedule with my yearly goals and gonna break my streak of consecutive reading soon. Of course I had brought way more books with the plan of reading through all that, but yeah was a bit too much. I also couldn’t really decide what to read, so in the end I brought back most of it home and left Zenitendo vol 2 for next week/challenge.
I got the work done at least.
I recently happened across 頸部 (neck (region)), so that suddenly makes a lot of sense.
