Same here, I can’t join the server
Here you go: Japanese Book Club
Alrighty, so I see some people have filled out the when2meet form. If you have filled out the form and are still interested, please message in the Discord channel called “老女的少女ひなたちゃん”.
Great, thanks! I’ll head on over and check it out.
Hi everyone,
We will be doing live readings for 老女的少女ひなたちゃん・Little Granny Girl Hinata-chan every Sunday at 7am PDT, starting March 10 2024. Tentatively planned to be 1 hour long, but can go till 1.5 hours.
We have 6 people interested so far including myself.
Here is the invite link for anyone new interested:
Go to the channel called 老女的少女ひなたちゃん if you join. That’s where the rest of the gang will be.
So, Discourse has a function where you can display a time in a user’s current time zone - it’s the button in the post creation toolbar that looks like a calendar. Thus:
2024-03-10T14:00:00Z
Start time is a bit short notice though, innit? Also, don’t forget that Daylight Savings starts in the US this weekend, so it’s not PST but rather PDT. Which is probably gonna throw a whole bunch of careful planning out the window.
If you’re reading just the six pages of the book that comprised the book club’s reading this week, it should take much less than an hour. At least when you get into the swing of things - the first meeting could entail a fair amount of administration discussion.
Thanks for mentioning that feature and pointing out the PST to PDT transition! I will rectify that now.
I did a last minute ping in case anyone missed the original post in the manga thread, which did mention the live readings at the top. I feel this thread makes it clear that if you are interested, you should fill out the when2meet and join the Discord. However, you are right I definitely could have communicated earlier in the manga thread. It’s my first time organizing this haha, and my first time reading a manga as well.
Yes, that is exactly the intention. Allowing some buffer time for introductions and administrative stuff among other things. With time more pages will be allocated so it could potentially go up to 1.5 hours. Also, I think if some people are truly first timers they could potentially take more time than the average person which is another consideration I had in mind too.
