In the past week or so I’ve seen a couple of radicals resurrect themselves from the dead after being at guru 2 or above. I’m super confused; they’re both ones that I was already conversant in before starting WaniKani. I’m level 6 right now and the first time it was 東; 東 was probably burnt, it was covered a very long time ago and in radical form I’m sure that I never got it wrong. (I do confuse ひがし and にし once in awhile but that’s not tested in radicals). I figured it was weird but harmless.
東 in noun form is listed as a master-level item for me; it’s only the radical that reset.
Today 北 showed up as a level 3 radical that I need to begin learning. Now I’m extremely confused because I had already gotten 東北 (as in the region) up to Guru II; why would it allow me to learn that if I had never done the radicals for both 東 and 北?
And, as I write this, I see that 東北 is listed as a level 11 noun, even though I’m only at level 6 and the same page tells me that I’m at Guru II at this word - again, because I knew it before starting WaniKani.
So um yeah. What’s going on here? lmao. My screenshots are from Tsurukame on iPhone but this is seemingly also happening via the website as well; it’s not limited to tsurukame. Did The Powers That Be change those radicals’ levels and, because of that, I need to relearn them? Or is this something else?
