Nothing is spookier than daily grammar studies. At least for me, so I’ve decided to turn October into a grammar challenge. Everyone is welcome to join with their own version.
Feel free to download the stamp card if you want to use it, you don’t need any fancy programs, just cross the days off in paint.
My personal rules: Spend at least 10 minutes a day with something grammar related, for all of October.
Also, I did have a look through the forum and couldn’t find a previous version of this challenge. If it already exists please let me know so I can join instead of starting a new topic, thanks!
Me too me too. My Bunpro deck has 16 new cards at the moment, and I add more as I come across them while reading. I’ll try to get them all done in October. I also think it’s time to pick up A Dictionary of Intermediate Japanese Grammar again.
For me it’s that I wanted to finish Genki 2 by the end of 2025 but I need a little extra motivation!
Did you also read “A Dictionary of Basic Japanese Grammar”? If so did you like it? I’m considering ordering it.
Absolutely! Use this however you see fit! I’m just exited to have people join.
Yes I read the basic version, after finishing Genki 2. It filled in some points that Genki missed. I do like how thorough they are, and they provide a ton of example sentences.
I could definitely use this! Almost done with N2 grammar on Bunpro so I will definitely use this to do at least 1-2 N1 grammar points at a more leisurely pace
Yes, I did. I didn’t have too much trouble with starting Quartet, but I had also been doing a lot of reading of native materials, as well as learning grammar from reading Satori Reader.
I would say, generally, Quartet 1 is a step up in difficulty from Genki. The chapters are twice as long, and the readings are more difficult. If you check out the old Quartet study group, it looks like several people found the book to be a challenge at first. But as long as you keep going at your own pace, and reading native material on the side, you’ll be fine!
Today I started slow with reading through the first chapter of genki 2 and making a lesson plan for myself that I will be doing in whatever tempo I’ll see fit. This chapter contains two of my favorite grammar points:
〜し for giving reasons
なら
し for giving reasons just sounds soooooo cute! Especially if you give mutliple reasons and なら just has such a cool vibe ^^
I learned them via immersion, so they were already well settled into my brain when I bunpro introduced them to me. But I’m looking forward to using my favorite grammar points in exercises
Bunpros grammar point today was (の)ために and was I surprised that it was supposed to be new I had been using this for so long, I would have sworn it must have been N5 and not N3.
