I didn’t think I’d get this far but I did! (After approximately 9 years, including all of the times my Japanese learning took a backseat due to work, personal problems, and possibly every combination of life event in between)
To be more accurate, it took me 7-8 years to reach level 60, then another year or so to burn everything.
What title shall the almighty Crabigator bestow upon me?
Ah, but in all honesty, while I have burned everything, my reading comprehension and kanji recognition have deteriorated in some ways. This is because my current job focuses more on technology (in Japanese) than actual translating. I still have many other materials to study as well as N1 to aim for (which I have failed twice).
What’s life like for those who have mastered all from the Crabigator?
Congratulations! I’m glad I bought the lifetime membership so I can take my time getting there. If I keep up my current pace, it’s looking like 3 years to get to level 60.
I don’t think I’ll ever go for that. Primarily because I have no plans to get Lifetime, and I likely wouldn’t complete this within the same annual sub as my eventual 60.
Are you going to reset for extra practice? I imagine the other forms of study would probably yield better results at that point.
For now I plan to make as much progress on Bunpro and Satori Reader (where I have mostly finished the coverage for N2-N1 but haven’t exactly mastered them yet)
I also practice on the Sou Matome series of textbooks/workbooks. I still feel like they’re not enough though given how N1 coverage isn’t as clearly defined as N2 to N5.
@ onesteadyguy I am waiting for you to join me, grasshopper
@ Squintina Still thinking about whether to reset but for now I do feel like that would be a shame for my progress so I guess I’ll move on to Bunpro and Satori Reader to distract myself
As someone who bought lifetime in 2019 and is about to (for the first time, I believe) make it to level 16, you are a shining beacon of hope that persistence pays off. Congrats on burning everything!
