I reset my account recently after a long break and have just noticed that Smouldering Durtles shows 59 lessons available, while the WK web app says “Done, check back tomorrow!”. Any idea what could be causing the discrepancy? I’m unsure of whether to stop for now like the web app is saying or to grind through more lessons as shown in the Android app.
Wanikani changed the way it does lessons slightly, and now only gives you a certain number of lessons per day. You technically should still have more available, but it just presents a few each day. If you press the advanced button on Wanikani, do you see more lessons?

Yep I do. @Joeni I hope you don’t mind the ping, but do you think it would be feasible to add this as an option to Smouldering Durtles? i.e. whether to honor the rate limiting in the lessons that the web app does. I’m guessing this information may not be exposed by the API so it might not be possible.
Basically the limit on the website is a blindfold that covers your actual available lessons from you. Some people get anxiety from seeing a big number, so this was a recent change to display it like that as a one-size fits all bandaid solution. Smouldering Durdles is the real number.
I ended up using a third party plugin to bring the real number back because I preferred to be able to prepare for how much I have that’s upcoming while going at near max speed. (radicals and kanji first, then spread out vocab over the time it takes to level up)
It’s specifically a feature of the web interface and no information about it is exposed by the API. Theoretically I could introduce a feature to show only a set number of lessons, say, but then I’d also have to add a lesson picker, etc. which isn’t something I’ve the time to do. It would also introduce a scenario where users would have to change their settings in two places to keep them the same and I think that’s not an ideal situation.
What about a simpler “only offer me x lessons per day” option which wouldn’t require a lesson picker? I personally am not worried about having to change it in two different places because I use Durtles exclusively, but I would really like to only do 15 or 20 vocab lessons a day without having the big number on the notification and dashboard pressuring me into doing more
On those occasions where I want to do more than x per day, like when I level up and I want to learn all of the new radicals and kanji immediately, I’m fine with just raising the daily limit and then lowering it back after I reach the new vocab, like you’d do with an Anki deck.
