What! Asian languages share so much. We also say “Small Pee” “Big pee” in Urdu.
雹（ひょう）= hail
Knowing the kanji isn’t necessarily that useful, but if you ever see ひょう in the context of weather phenomena without any explanation, then just be aware that it’s probably referring to this.
Also, according to my dictionary, the season for hail in Japan is typically… summer!
Either that or it’s a rain of leopards.

I already knew ただいま, but today I learned the kanji for it: 只今. I had seen 只 before, but I never knew what it had meant.
恨み and 睨む
No matter HOW MANY TIMES I SEE THESE WORDS I without fail have to look them up to be sure. Their meanings are just specific enough I can guess but just vague enough I might misunderstand why they are being used. Its 恨み that I have to keep 睨むing at these words.
出る杭は打たれる - A proverb meaning that people who stand out due to their talents are usually criticized/hated by others.
Cool that I was able to figure out the meaning with context and looking at the kanji I do know.
帆船 - sailing boat
鯣 (するめ) - Japanese common squid, usually referring to the food product of dried squid, but (and this is the meaning that caught my interest, despite not being the one I saw in context), also is used as slang to refer to something that grows on one over time. 
大きい方出ます. One can never be expressive enough in that subject and should strive to learn all the ways to talk about it.
笑 わら =LOL haha internet slang
Often shortened to w. Which is then expanded into wwwwww. Which looks like grass so it becomes 草.
So don’t be surprised if you see a lot of 草 or くさ. Or w I guess 
I tend to see those a lot more than 笑, though I do see all of those coming by.
値段 (ねだん) - cost/price of something
Regarding 笑、I’ve always read it as えみ (smile) instead of わら, but わら makes more sense and explains the w. Thanks for mentioning it!
