鬱 (Utsu) - Depression
I learned this character because it was in the title of my favorite song “ Etsu to Utsu” (悦ト鬱) by Kiryu “己龍”. I even memorized how to write it with Taito “ and Biyan.
落葉 (Rakuyou) - withered leaves
雪見 (Yukimi) - snow viewing
I like the second one and wonder why English lack words of such beautiful expressions.
trigger warning (?) not sure if I have to do that, but just to be sure…
憂鬱 (ゆううつ) depression, melancholy
not the best word, but it was in the book I’m reading right now alongside some nsfw words, that I won’t repeat
the moment where you ask yourself what the heck you are reading
There are more entrances than just 入口
昇降口 - entrance (usually with shoe boxes, i.e. schools)
玄関先 - entrance (usually the front door of private homes, because you know… genkan)
Because we also lack the tradition. 花見 and 月見 as well.
It’s also in the title of the well-known 涼宮ハルヒの憂鬱 light novel…
And here I was having a conversation with someone on Reddit about how Japanese has just way more nuanced words. Thank you
書籍化 - novelization, book adaptation
I feel like I hear see 精一杯 and 一生懸命 way more here than I do 力いっぱい
They’re all on WaniKani, so I don’t think they’re intending to suggest that 力いっぱい is more common by having it in level 2.
Yeah I know. I learned that the hard way xD after I started to rely on loanwords or taking shots in the dark and hoping the thing I’m saying is a loan word xD
