I’m pretty sick so don’t know if I will make it to 30 by then, but I am looking forward to Nihongo Quest N5, Koe, and Shujinkou. Particularly after Shujinkou I want to try playing video games and fully reading manga. I just practice reading some pages and Japanese tweets at the moment just to see what I can understand. I’d really like to play Untitled Goose Game sometime next year….
these are addressed under the faq, but thank you for the additional context and sharing your experience. if you’re interested in following along there’s now a leaderboard section for those over level 30!
Oh I missed that, sorry. I saw people discussing that point above so I chimed in unprompted.
I’ve never played a persona game before but it looks like it could be my cup of tea, I’ll keep an eye out for it!
no worries! i’m glad because i wasn’t sure if i’d caught everything i should be worried about with the goals and limitations of this challenge
That would be fun, we could set level up goals. Like if the whole thread get 20 levels combined by the end of October we defeat the monster?
I don’t think I’m going to make it even if I up my pace a little but might as well join in! Good luck everyone!
First, I just leveled up to 42 (and my persona learned Mabufula.)
Second, I just watched the trailer it looks so good. I really actually enjoyed the characters I just hated the tartarus especially because I played it after Persona 5 which had such dynamic palaces. I hope they did a little something to make the slog a little easier. I swear there were like 50 blocks that you had to do it one day because it doesn’t open up until the end. And the battles weren’t as fun with out the baton passes of P5.
BUT sorry the reason I came to say this. It’s not for switch at least right now, which is annoying, I like to have the switch for my japanese study games…
Congrats on the level up! Did you remember your towel?
What does this mean?
It’s a reference to The Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, which used to be heavily referenced on WK. 42 is a special number.
I have to admit as I’ve gotten further into wanikani I read their mnemonics less and less. I remember that now. I was worried it was a Persona reference I was forgetting.
You can leave that part to me.
Never played it before. But if I’m still doing WK by the date this thread meets its deadline, maybe I ought to try.
To be honest I have no idea what you’ve been up to with WK, are you actually at level 13 because it feels like you’ve been level 13 for ages.
I took a very extended break from learning Japanese due to life and laziness (well, multiple breaks). At one point I’d basically forgotten that I intended on learning it. I am actually working on completing WK now, but I’m taking it real easy, because I have other materials I’d rather focus on.
Right now though, I’m very nearly to level 14.
At my current pace I’ll finish WK around the end of 2026.
Ill join in and see how far I can get within the time limit. Living in Japan already it
s criminal to be surrounded by so much cheap manga and the lack of kanji ability to read it.
unfortunately it’s releasing to steam, so i’m debating whether to get it there or hold out for a switch copy
I’m having the same debate. Like, I want to play it sooner, but the portability of Switch is so convenient.
I know… I’ll probably go PS5, It doesn’t seem to have any switch date, possibly ever?
I’ve hit level 22 at a personal best of 9 days! If I can keep going at this speed (or even a bit slower) I might just make it
