Congrats to your level up. Lol the fast levels especially the last 10 levels are the hardest. There are lots of kanji for trees and plants to memorize. Some kanji have hard to memorize readings.
And military titles
Hi, guys, so… this may be a little ambitious of me, but I’m going to join the challenge to try to keep myself focused.
I previously did WaniKani, got to about level 15, and then stopped due to the pandemic overtaking my life (work, family, etc.). Well, I returned to it, and found I don’t know remember much of anything, so I figured I’m gonna start over from scratch.
So, I’m starting at level 1. I don’t know if it’s statistically possible for me to reach Level 60 in 15 months, but I’m at least going to do my best. Anything is better than nothing, right?
ようこそ!
ありがとう!
But the military titles are useful if you play videogames.
Leveled up yesterday just two more levels. 世界が終わるまで、あと7日.

Looking forward to all the Super Robot Wars I’ll be practising on.
It’s possible, a certain snowman managed it in 344 days. But it’s not really recommended. It’s better to go at your own pace.
In 15 months it is a fast pace but can be manageable.
Have a look on the fabulous guide by @jprspereira
Find a schedule you’re comfortable with and if it takes more than 15 months, so be it.
I feel like my achievements have been totally overshadowed by this record-breaking snowman

Agreed. With military terms being there, now I feel last dozen of levels must be most interesting one.
Personally, can’t wait lv41 with all the 航空母艦、艦船、軍艦 and other titles for pretty ladies being introduced. Now to mention it, it’s just 3 levels away. Last time I checked it was lv12 and back then it was soooo long away. What a magic place this thread.
Small thing bother me a bit though. Most military packed group of levels called “reality”. Is Tofugu up to something and trying to give us some clues…?
Woohoo, I’m officially up into Painful with @Aleithian.
No true cons apart from time input. It takes me way longer to write and necessitates screentime for myself. I’m a busy mom of two tiny ones (soon to be three). I try to avoid my screens when I’m around them… always have actual things to attend to like bills and crap, and a the end of the day I have so little time left to do things with. So basically that’s all. If I didn’t have the obligations and/or didn’t avoid being on my screen when with my kiddos, then I DO think I’d be writing as a chunk of my daily study as it is, as you said, really useful for getting feedback and corrections.
The only other thing I have to say on that front is that “you can’t expect to get out what you haven’t put in” to your brain. Hearing and reading the correct language patterns and grammar is invaluable in your ability to produce it. I’m a big proponent of italki and I think that language production/communication is what language learning is mostly all about, but writing WILL be easier the more you know. I think there’s a reason that writing ability is the last that we tend to as children. Listening first… then speaking… then reading… then writing. Almost always in that order.
Thank you so much, really appreciate it.
Your time is precious and I shan’t dare attempt to take any more. You are the forum hero MVP in my books.
To our alumni @RoseMuncher, @MegaZeroX and folks who soon will get to the top.
While the journey to Level 60 is very popular topic, and we see bunch of Level 60 posts, almost nobody updates on what happens after. Which is a bit scary. WK provides people with routine and clear goal. Losing those can be dangerous.
So I encourage you to continue posting your updates (how many daily reviews you still have to do, how many burns you have, what new things you can do with your Japanese knowledge, etc) and achievements, even if it is not a Level change.
But since you maxed out your level - what kind of easy score can you provide? Suggesting use “0/0/0/0/n” score from “Zero streak” thread. What is this score - it’s a number of items in A/G/M/E/B srs stages (you can add pending lessons to apprentice if any). The perfect score right now would be “0/0/0/0/8896”. Here is the rare example of such score achieved:
https://community.wanikani.com/t/the-00-streak-challenge/29505/3352
Than you will have reason to do updates to this thread until you reached total burn status, if that’s in your plans.
You can also find the updated version here as well as in the post I am replying to in that thread.
I’m more than happy to keep you all updated with what I am doing, if that’s something people want to hear.
Regarding the score, as I mentioned in my level 60 post and further up in this one, I don’t know if I will achieve such a score. However, we can create a new column in the alumni table for the score? I am happy to update once week or so if you think that’s a good idea.
Truthfully, I have taken a short hiatus from Japanese until the end of this month. I’m composing myself before the struggle ahead. By 1st of March I’ll have a schedule and budget laid out and will have started reading my first Japanese book. I want to use this year to do some intense studying!
Regarding WaniKani, I have done some reviews here and there but I still have the last of my lessons to do (the ones unlocked after Guru’ing the level 60 kanjis). I’m going to do them tomorrow and then… it’s just reviews from there on out.
Let me know what I can provide regularly that you think might help or be motivating for you
I reached level 5! (just 55 more to go)
I shall continue grinding here every day.
Oi, level 55! This is it… the final bracket…
I must say those levels from the second observation deck onwards really demand even the experienced climber.
