It looks really nice! I’ve been playing with it for a bit and I’ve noticed that when you make changes that make green messages appear on the bottom (e.g. click save in the account screen, move a card from desk to SRS) the message won’t disappear and it also won’t let you close them either; it forces you to refresh the page. I’m on Firefox.

I did indeed miss that, it went into Junk whereas the reset emails don’t.
I’d think that appropriate, as they’d only be actioning the reset link of the account is valid.
I’d love to say that confirming resolved the issue, but it did not. In the end, creating a new account was the only thing that resolved it for me, and I’m in now. I wonder if my resettting without having first confirmed disagreed with something in the database?
Works fine in Safari on iPad, incidentally.

That seems to have caused a state problem yes. Making reset auto confirm should prevent reaching such a state. Thanks for confirming. I manually confirmed your original account if you’d like to use that instead.

I think the problem is that the Desks in the Workspace tab and the Desks in the Srs tab aren’t synced. So I can create cards from Desks that I created in the Srs tab but not from ones I created in the Workspace tab. When trying to create a card, only the desks created in the Srs tab show as options.
Also, I’ve been checking out the segmentation feature, and it looks like it may have some trouble with identifying particles correctly… not sure what it thought was going on in this sentence.
You might be confusing decks and desks. Uh, that might have been an unfortunate choice of word for desks. Desks are something else, unrelated to SRS (but you can export a desk to an SRS deck). You can probably forget about desks for now, they’ll be helpful when we release vocab sheets. Sorry for the confusing name, we might have to think about a different one.
As for the sentence you’re trying to segment, it’s the same thing I talked about a bit above related to kana and usually-kana stuff. Picking up stuff that shouldn’t be kana but is still commonly kana will improve with time (後, 出来る, etc). And seems もう is missing. Thanks, will check the sentence you have.
Ohhh, you’re right; I didn’t notice at all that they were different. 
I can’t agree with this, I couldn’t see them at all until I entered the dark mode. It was very confusing, maybe you could somehow make the checkboxes highlighted while in tutorial? Also that “glowing yellow panel” is not glowing, and not very visible either (although I did notice it after some time, which I can’t say about checkboxes in the light mode). It might be that colors of my screen are much paler than yours, I suppose.
Other than those UI problems, I like the idea and the design though, great job!

Yeah will highlight the checkboxes in the tour. And I know the yellow panel might not be clearly visible the first time too, I’ll think of a better place to put it.
I’m curious why you’d make the checkboxes invisible to begin with? Would it not be easier to just make it so that the boxes are always there, and once you check one the save to desk/srs box pops up automatically? I feel like it could be streamlined.

Okay, so here’s my first impression of it, for what it’s worth: it seems very useful, but I’m overloaded with information.
I’d say that in any given sentence I would theoretically choose to put on this website, there’s probably only a couple points in the sentence that I need help on.
Therefore it should look like this IMHO:
The current UI of the website, with everything already expanded makes it very hard to parse information that’s actually important. My eyes are zigzagging up and down the page, try to match up cards with different parts of the sentence.
I’d recommend making it so that clicking on a phrase (おばあさん, for instance) would highlight the relevant card (so I can quickly find it with my eyes) and clicking it would expand the card. I’d scan through the sentence, click the things I find confusing, then look at the relevant, expanded information laid out below.
I’m noticing that if you hover over a CARD then it highlights the relevant part of the sentence. But I’d recommend the opposite (or just both highlighting each other) because of the simple fact that people read top to bottom.
Also, my other two cents is that you need to handle multiple sentences. It’s a little impractical to go open your book, paste the sentence/paragraph, and add to the deck over and open the book, paste, etc…
It was a bit on purpose to show as much info as we have in the start. We planned on tweaking this. For the highlight point, yes that’s actually in the backlog, to make the transition from the box above to the relative card easier to see.
Well that’s just not feasible. The unit isn’t “one sentence”, it’s up to the person, and it changes from sentence to sentence. For example, I might cut a certain long sentence into 3 parts and input them separately to create 3 cards from each for example.
I feel like there might have been some miscommunication here since I don’t feel like what I said was that weird.
So let’s say you’re going through a book sequentially and you want to do 10 sentences (inputs) a day for 30 days.
From my understanding, to get these from the segmenter to the SRS you would have to do this every day:
You have 10 inputs (sentences in this case) so you have to do this in this exact order 10 times.
What I’m suggesting is that it would be nice if you could just:
The difference is that what I’m suggesting means I don’t have to hold my book in my lap for the entire 10-15 minute process everyday, because I already have the sentences ready.

＠mrahhal - I’m still really enjoying Lapis. I think there is a ton of potential here so I look forward to the continued improvements. I LOVE having pitch accent and both the English and Jap-Jap dictionary easily available to toggle.
Feature request: Screen grab feature for the SRS system. If you could somehow build a screenshot/image capture feature into Lapis as part of the software so that I can easily grab images from media while I’m immersing, this would take it’s utility to the next level. This way I could segment a sentence and save it to SRS with a context image all in one east workflow.

You mean desk here? Because you wrote desk in the 3rd step. (We really should rename this to something else). If you do mean desk, they’re not particularly useful right now until we introduce vocab sheets (in what follows I’ll assume we’re talking about decks. Sorry, again, if I got something wrong).
So you’re saying it would be helpful if you can, beforehand, write out the sentences to Lapis in a temp queue, and later get to choosing the inclusion and add the result to SRS. That’s actually very close to what desks can do (but not exactly the same). You can enter selection and save the sentence to a desk (without selecting anything), and later on you’ll be able to do pass by them and redo selection and then finally save them to SRS with one click. Would that be similar to what you have in mind?
But if we forget about desks for a moment. In my mind, the process is something like this when I’m reading a book:
Isn’t choosing an inclusion right away better than deferring this? Since you’re already in that context while reading it, and you know exactly what you want to select. What do you think?

We’re thinking about something like that: being able to extract data from different media. Another idea is related to the browser extension we want to do, the extension would allow you to grab sentences from anywhere on the web, and then segment it in place/save it to SRS/etc. It’s just a matter of priorities and time.
This is something I faced myself
We’ll be adding quick actions next to example sentences: copy/pin to board/etc.
