Probably Wiktionary

On a side note, it’s interesting how Wiktionary lists Kanjipedia as a source for the Japanese section of 頁, but then also lists “big shell” as the first meaning, which is not on Kanjipedia, and not a meaning in any words or any compounds, just a slang name of sorts.
Isn’t there a policy to cite sources and not post original research over there.

Oh, thanks. I checked wikipedia but it was “meh”

Oh, what a cool page!

Worth noting that it’s maintained by the organization that runs the Kanji Kentei, so it’s reliable as a source for anything you’d be interested in related to that.

Yeah that’s strange, I can’t find this big shell meaning anywhere in Japanese kanji dictionaries. Is it a colloquial name for the radical annoying Japanese speakers?

Even if it is, the Wiktionary entry is misleading as it is…

(おおがい) is a name for the radical (not Kanji)? Not sure who used the “big shell” translation.

頁部(けつぶ)は、頭や顔の名称・状態などに関する字が主に属します。「頁」は「おおがい」、また「一」と「ノ」と「貝」を組み合わせた形から「いちのかい」と呼びます。

漢字(つくり)の一。「順」「頭」「類」などの「頁」の称。(こがい)貝偏)と区別して(おおがい)という。一ノ貝。

Yeah at the very least it should read “big shell radical” I think.
