It's not necessarily how slow it is that bothers me

This complaint is really very surprising to me… Maybe if you think of reviews being unlocked after minimum time since last review, you’ll understand it better. You don’t have to do them on the spot, and you don’t have to do them all at once…

I feel dumb, but i really don’t understand the complaint. The reviews don’t go away if you can’t do them when they show up, so if they pop at 3am, you can do them 8am no problem.

There’s also the extra study if you want to review before that block.

I just…don’t understand.

I also don’t understand the hostility of other users in this thread.

Maybe just not my place to talk.

Same. There’s always something to do on wanikani. Even if you somehow managed to do all your available lessons AND reviews. Also the further you are in level the more the review pile will grow due to master & enlightened items coming back. If people wanna race it’s their own fault, this isn’t build for that.

The hostility is something I havn’t really seen much in the forums, so maybe it’s just that one guy…

This was one of my biggest gripes at first with WaniKani too, but it fixes itself pretty quickly when you start to get a lot of reviews. I can consistently get reviews at any time of the day now

Yeah, the idea being that your first review is that one with 4hrs. Then it switches to the day intervals so that second review binds its start. Meaning its probably best to only do reviews in the mornings to avoid a late night pile up.

This annoyed me for awhile, until I got over my urge to be tidy and end the day with no reviews pending. I’m better off letting them collect until morning, when I’m more alert anyway. I’m finding it really productive, when I have time to study but no reviews pending, to run through my recent mistakes.

I recently discovered than on Bunpro you could schedule items for 3 am every day (except the new “apprentice” items). I really like this feature but I kinda wish it was on WaniKani too. It helps with “just getting it done” asap in the day. It’s not something that I will die without, but still would be nice to have. I don’t quite understand the pushback for this feature.

to me, i think a large review queue would feel less of a burden with a more sophisticated timer feature. no, it’s not a race, but with a number steadily moving past 100 it’s hard not to think that way. i’ll sit down and do 20-40 at a time on a busy workday. that’s why i think being able to shift the timer between intervals of 10 would be useful.

The randomness of review timings has always driven me nuts on Wanikani. I have a job, I don’t have free time whenever WK chooses. When I do have free time (at lunch for example) that’s when I want reviews, not an hour after my lunch break finishes.

For some reason ONLY on the WK forums specifically, multiple people will push back against literally any suggestion made. No idea what causes this.

Exact same reasoning for me, if I have a timeslot open at 7PM at night, I don’t have until 10pm to wait for the majority of my reviews to come in.

How much pushback is there really though? I don’t really see people saying it would be a bad addition. Just people pointing out how it goes away in part with time, can be mitigated, or other ways to handle it in the meantime. At worst we have people saying “can’t relate” but that’s hardly pushback imo. Look at the responses on the summary page getting removed, kana additions, or even the new dashboard. There’s plenty of pushback in there.

You’ve come back to respond to a guys first ever post, just to downplay the push back. Please lol

It’s a forum. I can give my opinion and I think I did so while following the TOS. Just like you choose to keep coming back to complain about everyone else in this thread, but no one is giving you a hard time about it. It’s a forum, that’s just how things work.

Notice how you clearly understood what the original request was? But when you first responded to me instead you just gave that snarky joke response? Interesting

I’m sorry if anything I said to you came across like I was diminishing your contribution to the thread. I’ve made my fair share of snarky comments on these forums, but my reply to you wasn’t meant to be one of them.

No worries I appreciate that, then did someone’s reply below our original conversation clear up what @Anarchy753 was requesting?

When reviews pile up like that, I use Burn Fusion to keep burned items warm without adding to the stress. It randomly adds a few after each session. Install: WaniKani Burn Fusion GitHub: bimapopo345 (Bima Prawang Saputra) · GitHub
