I’m not sure if this issue is caused by Wanikani or Tsurukame but when reviewing the reading of 頁 (which is ページ) I’m getting a shake when trying to type out ページ. Maybe the issue is my hyphen being different from the Japanese IME hyphen?
One picture is me trying to type what it wants and the other is me deliberately getting it wrong so I can use Tsurukame to mark it correct manually. I’m pretty sure I know this one.
I’d be interested to see the solution - I’ve seen a couple of reviews lately where the kanji/vocab reading was inverted (wriggle on correct answer, “other” answer being marked as correct). I presumed it was just an issue at my end/brain.
Should have searched the forum first, I saw a related post scrolling down after making the topic. this sounds like it could be the cause and it’s just from a month ago. I never would have noticed that difference but if they’re separate characters it’d read it wrong. It’ll be a while before this review comes up again but if I remember I’ll try forcing lowercase to see if that helps.
I/Support have seen this issue come up a few times recently with Tsurukame users, so I believe it’s isolated to the app. We haven’t seen or heard anything with the item in WaniKani.
If this was recently there was an API bug that caused the readings that were marked as correct for some Kanji to be incorrectly returned when the items were pulled in batch by the API. It affected Smouldering Durdles for sure but probably also affected Tsurukame since pulling items in batch is the most efficient way to get the information for an app like that.
If you have an option to reset your database in Tsurukame and repull the subjects that should fix the issue if this was the cause. And if this was the cause you’re likely to run into this issue again with some other select Kanji if they’ve already been downloaded.
