I'm addicted to wanikani

The style of wanikani is pretty good for me. I do with there’s grammar memorization for wanikani. I tried bunpro but it didnt hook me as much as wanikani. I wish the devs could make one similar to how they present this app. I’m on level 11 now but I’m kinda cliff hanged whenever I can’t further my level. I wish there’s an option to advance my level every month. like if it is possible to make the review arrive hours shorter? or the option to do advance lessons

Unless you’re using vanilla Wanikani, speeding up reviews and changing the SRS system they’ve put in place isn’t going to be possible as far as I know. If you really want to speed it up, which I wouldn’t recommend, as the SRS systems Wanikani have made are really good for memorizing stuff, and changing it might not be too good for the learning aspect, but with that warning in mind, there might be a way to do it via the API system, I’m not too familiar with it but you might be able to add custom reviews via the API using your own API key. Although I wouldn’t do it just for the sake of learning.

As for Bunpro, I felt similar to how you felt when using it initially, but it’s better in my opinion now that I understand that it wants you to be able to recall this stuff. It tells you what you should translate from English to Japanese with some context, and so in real life situations, like in a conversation, you’ll be comfortable at a higher SRS stage in those recall exercises. I think the reason they do this is because grammar is definitely a bit more crucial in conversation due to the complex conjugation rules and word order, and just the way grammar is structured.

You can only advance once you have passed ~90% of the kanji for that level. The only way with Vanilla WK to go fast is to do all radical and kanji lessons as soon as they appear (and reappear) and hopefully not make too many mistakes.

There are scripts that allow you to “undo” your errors, and you just repeat until you get it right.

You can always raise the number of lessons a day.
I don’t recommed it though.

Im actually at maximum. But sometimes when I level up it is already at night so I dont have the time to do all the lessons so my average days to level up again takes 9-10 days

Welcome to WaniKani! You may need to mess with your sleep schedule like those speedrunners who finish in around a year

That’s my level up rhythm.
Slow and steady you win the race
