I really wish you could "force" an item into the reviews

I’m only level 4, and there has already been 2 times where I’m stuck waiting multiple days to be allowed to “guru” one kanji to level up. It gets kinda annoying to be stuck for 2 days and not be able to proceed even though I know the words. I wish there would be a way to forcefully enter words/kanjis into the review queue so I can actually make more progress.

The point really is just to make sure you can remember the information for the long term. Sure you can remember it now, but what about next week or three weeks from now? Spreading it out does really help you in the long term.

Is it more that you feel there isn’t enough reviews to work on in the meantime? I do think in early levels before you accumulate a ton of reviews that it can feel kind of slow, especially if your motivated to make progress.

First of all welcome to the commeownity  ! meow :cat_with_wry_smile:

I was also frustated with the lack of lessons and having to wait for reviews but i entered the community on my 6th or 7th day and was able to read many threads that told me that WK is just one part of the process in learning japanese……in the end its just kanjis and thier associated vocabs .

I would recommend you to start doing something on the side for grammar , reading speed/stamina and listening as even if you know 2000 kanji and 6000 vocab it will be useless if you dont know the grammar or can’t capture the words while listening . I do bunpro for grammar , WK for kanji/vocab , kaniwani for recall as right now we only recognise the kanji in reviews or in places , memrise for kana only words (plus they have good native videos ) , Cure dolly (youtube) for understanding the grammar naturally (or as dolly says organically ) .

Apart from this i Listen to Nihongo Con Teppie (begginer) Podcasts + Shun Genki 1 podcasts for listening practice , read manga or graded readers for reading practice .

I am fully loaded with these things and they take about 3-4 Focused hours in my day so i am no longer that anxious about the wk slow progress and if you have some goal like JLPT then you should specially focus on other parts of learning then wk solely .

And if have read till now then let me quote something many of our commeownity members say

Learning Japanese is not a sprint , its a marathon.

Good luck on your learning journey :four_leaf_clover: !

p.s. keep visiting the forum okay ? in my experience the commeownity is the best thing you get from the church of crabigatorism
