To realize that it is not as easy as you may hallucinate, you need a UserScript.
Hide Context Sentence Translation
[image]
In response to [request thread ], here is a userscript for hiding the English translation of Context Sentences on the Lesson, Review, and Item pages.
The translation is hidden under a gray box, and is revealed when you hover your cursor over the box.
This is a third-party script/app and is not created by the WaniKani team. By using this, you understand that it can stop working at any time or be discontinued indefinitely.

Although, I did it with Anki. I also add text-to-speech (TTS).
I would say that, reading a paragraph to understand context is not the same as analyzing a sentence properly.

I accidentally push the topic up, but moving category (and moving back). Anyway, the update is
Since new Japanese learners starting at WaniKani often complain anyway, that they don’t read context sentences. So I think it is a better idea anyway, to advise on how to understand sentences, and make Japanese context sentence reading possible for every vocabularies.
Sporadically, there were threads on a context sentence understanding, but not group together for easy browsing. We should try to put as many as possible in the same place - here.
I don’t think reading English translation help muc…
I still hide Context Sentence translations , as I actually copy+pasta sentences from the Info page. But now I try to breakdown sentences explicitly without looking at the translation. The truth I still do, but only as back up, and rarely.
