How long did it take to get to your current level?

Almost 3 months in and I’m reaching level 7 tomorrow. Slacked too much at the beginning but should be able to hold my current pace of 9-10 days per level

The last levels were a bit slow, but I’m trying to limit my apprentice items to 100-150 so that I can keep up, even during a busy work week.

Started off recording it manually but now I have a script which uses the API to fetch all relevant information once a day

Same with the Kaniwani thing. I think it’s almost at 2000 reviews and when I have been doing it I’m lucky if I get 60% accuracy…

My hero.

I’ve recently gotten into a decent groove, though, I think.

Had a few ups and downs but not too bad compared to what some others have done so I guess that’s something. At the very least, I’d like to stay under 2 weeks per level going forward. I’ve started trying to put more focus on reading and grammar.

Just under 18 months .-.

Being, that you’re level 34, do you feel you can comfortably read? Actually, this question applies to anyone over level 30.

I’m almost level 3 and I’ve been here since 二月十八日

OH MY GOSH HOW!?
Don’t you have other engagements to do in life? Like, what’s your accuracy level? You’re not overusing any scripts are you? Do you have your life planned out around when the next review session is going to be?

There’s another post about this topic with a lot of good answers, but I’m incompetent and don’t know how to link it from my phone. Search: “For those of you who are at a high level”.

Basically, no, I still have a lot of trouble reading, but I recognize more and more as I go and it’s very satisfying. I also don’t study enough outside WaniKani, despite taking a class and having a Japanese gf… I would recommend sticking with it, though, it’s worth it. Now because of replying, my lessons have jumped to over 100… Gotta go

You mean this one?

edit: why isn’t it doing the preview thing?

Are you doing it from your phone?

Long-ish OT-ish reply within.

I find that when doing it on my phone, the link gets wrapped onto a second line fairly often, and that’s why gifs don’t automatically show up or links don’t show a preview, because they’re no longer considered “on a single line” even though you didn’t hit enter anywhere.
So I end up using HTML when accessing the forums from my phone a lot. Only the tinyurls work on their own (I was surprised I didn’t need IMG SRC on the gif above last night!).

That’s my best guess, anyway, Kumirei.

EDIT: Is this working for other people? For me it isn’t even though the preview is. I’m totally confused.

Nope, I’m on my computer as usual

That’s the one. Thanks Kumirei. Check it out @PrinceUchu.

No matter what, WaniKani is the greatest thing that happened to me in terms of studying Japanese.

I dunno…

Let’s chalk it up to Discourse being buggy.

@Exanimus @Kumirei Thanks for the assist!

I started at the end of July and am at level 27. I guess you could say that I am very motivated since I will be studying in Japan starting in July for a year. I’ve been really bad about grammar though.

Ditto! I totally agree. Even when I don’t feel like opening my textbooks, I still feel like working with WK.

About 1.5 years, probably 2 or so months to 60. Sometimes work gets in the way, especially for those 2+ week levels.

I went from level 4 (where I started dating and marking my progress) to level 29 in 10 months. There were points where I was getting 8.5 - 9.5 day average leveling, and then times with 11-12 day averaging. But once I hit 30, sometimes shortly afterward I reset my level to 20, took almost a year off, and now here I am… bein’ all slow and stuff and super anxious about leveling the flip up already.

I started in September 2014. It took me 2½ years to get to level 38, but…

:expressionless:

When I reached level 24, I spent a whole year in WK burnout, though I was doing Japanese classes full-time. I have no idea why levels one and five took me so long, though. I guess those were also burnout/burn-in periods.
