How do I get through 244 reviews?

おめでとうございます!

me, having 1750 overdue reviews looking at this :upside_down_face:
you can do it though, i just went through about 200 in an hour. so just make some time, sit down and push through it! if you don’t have that amount of time, break it apart into shorter sessions. you could do 30 every day and probably be back to zero within a couple of days. good luck!

edit: wrote all of this before looking at the most recent comments :smiling_face_with_tear: anyway - good job!

You’re right. I honestly don’t get why people complain about the amount of reviews. I have done consistently 200+ reviews daily for 7 months. Most I’ve gotten in a day is around 450 (bad planning on my part but wanted the lessons out of the way). It’s easy and everyone can do it. It looks intimidating but it really isn’t. If you don’t get it right in 10 seconds, just fail it and go to the next one, it’ll pop up again eventually.

Most important part is to get the first few reviews of a new item in the same day, ideally the first two at the very least. Make sure to read the mnemonics thoroughly, out loud if needed.

Another tip is to read through the next levels items, radicals and kanji beforehand. About a couple days before you ought to level, just to get used to them.

The rest is just easy, just somewhat time consuming if you have kids.

With all due respect, this is a touch insensitive.

Everyone’s brain works differently. What’s right for one person is not necessarily right for another. What’s easy for one is not necessarily easy for another. It takes a while, but most long haulers on WK find their rhythm and just keep at that.

The key is knowing when not to do lessons and consistently chipping away at the review mountain.

The right pace is your pace. Participating is winning. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Your fear should direct towards the lesson pile, having lessons means having undiscovered material. But unlike reviews, you can really only absorb so many completely unfamiliar items per day. Lesson piles are very scary (ノдヽ)

OP is likely not used to it yet. It’s only later levels that having hundreds of reviews can appear and start to be the norm. Zero to hero is very overwhelming.

Also, the difficulty matters a lot. It’s much easier to get through large numbers of reviews if you mostly already remember them. If it’s stuff you’ve forgotten, you’ll quickly get overwhelmed mentally and have to stop after a relatively low number of reviews. After all, you wouldn’t do 200 lessons in one day!
