Help with transitive verses intransitive verbs please

Is there a way to distinguish between transitive and intransitive Japanese verbs?
I usually just guess that it’s an intransitive verb if there’s an extra syllable in the middle or straight-up memorize it. There has to be a more efficient method :sweat_smile:
