Maybe they changed it since I last checked, but I don’t think WK supports Extra Study through the API.
I was wondering the same thing since I didn’t find any info on it in the API docs. That’s unfortunate, hopefully they add support for that in the future
I’ve been quiet for a little while on here, but I’m still working on this project every day in my free time! I’ve been working on some refactoring to make things as accessible as possible, along with accounting for edge cases in review sessions. Gonna add the ability to select specific subjects for lessons and reviews this weekend
But does it have a summary page?
Hmm do you mean a review summary page after reviewing items? It does have that yeah, but it’s in an icky/incomplete state right now so haven’t posted screenshots of it haha
I just wanted to say thank you for your time on this. I miss Jakeipuu so knowing that something like this may be coming soon makes me so happy.
Aww thank you, I really appreciate the comment
Hey all! A bit of an update: it’s looking like my later estimate of early September is more realistic than late August. I still have to implement the subjects/levels page and there’s lots of little bugs/things I missed that are taking some time. I posted some updated screenshots, lessons are half-baked right now (read: ugly) so I’ll post those once I get them looking more presentable
Hope you also add NHK easy news feature which i really like.
Are you talking about the reading practice section on Jakeipuu? I also love that feature, I actually emailed the creator a year ago asking how they implemented it because I couldn’t figure it out and hadn’t found any similar implementations. I’m guessing either web scraping or some third-party library is involved.
Since it’d take a decent amount of research and experimenting, this won’t be in the first version of the app, though I do plan on adding it eventually since I think it’s super useful. In the meantime though, luckily that part of Jakeipuu is still functioning!
Hey @salemlf, would you like some beta testers before you upload the app on the google store? Maybe that would help
Thanks for the offer! I’m finishing up fixing some major bugs right now, but going to try to get a beta version up in the next week. I’ll let y’all know once that actually happens haha
Accidentally posted this update previously with my free testing account for the app, whoops lol…
Hey all! Wanted to post an update since it’s been a little while. I’m currently in the process of submitting my app to the play store for review, it’s a lot of paperwork, which I guess I should have expected haha. Once that’s submitted and approved the beta for Android will be released! I’ll post here with the link once that’s available
Excited to announce that the alpha version is now available in the Play Store! Download it here and let me know what you think
Not seeing it in the Play Store yet.
You’ll have to go to that exact link, it’s an early access version so won’t show up in the play store if you search
When do you assume you release an iOS version for testing @salemlf ? Thanks.
I plan on spending the next week or two testing things more on the iOS version, then will need to get that approved through the app store. My personal phone is an android and my computer is kinda trash, so is a slower process for testing lol. Unsure how long the approval takes, for Android it was about a week. So I’d estimate 2-3 weeks!
Looks pretty nice.
I do miss the audio setting ‘Alternate between genders’ that I use on Flaming Durtles.
I also miss the option to show pitch information on vocabulary and stroke order animations on radicals and kanji. Any chance you’ll be adding those features later?
Oh, and I got stuck because I failed to guess how to move to the next screen after a correct answer during the lesson quiz. No next button, no enter button, and everything I selected just gave me the same screen asking whether I wanted to quit the quiz.
(This is probably one of those cases where everyone but me is born with the knowledge of the specific gestures required by the program.)
Thanks for the feedback! This isn’t feature complete (why I’m calling it alpha instead of beta), so I plan on adding more basic features to it.
That’s understandable about the lessons quiz, at the bottom there’s the dots you can use to move to the next item, but think I’m gonna change that to something more obvious.
Do you think a little guided tutorial (that’s skippable) when you go to some pages like that would help? Also considering offering a setting for retry/next buttons instead of swiping. There’s also shortcuts for keyboard users, but totally forgot to display the keys for that in this version.
For the pitch info and stroke order, those are things I plan to add but aren’t as high priority as some bug fixes/usability improvements I have planned. I really like the option to play audio for context sentences that Jakeipuu had, so that’s on the roadmap too
