Grammar guide!

Hey everyone!

Does anyone know a simple easy guide so I can start Grammar? Like which ones should I first start learning? Like should I start with verbs or something? Does anyone know a book that is helpful too?

Thank you!

For free there is About – Learn Japanese that’s quite well liked. https://www.youtube.com/@organicjapanesewithcuredol49 is liked by some as well.

Payed resources you can look at the usual books (Minna no Nihongo, Japanese from Zero, Genki, etc.) or online resources like Bunpro, Imabi etc.

Have a look through the ultimate resource list, I’m sure you’ll find something you like: The Ultimate Additional Japanese Resources List!

I personally like Bunpro for grammar. It has a SRS system and good grammar guides with further reading and info.

It also has a 1 month free trial without credit card info required so you can see if it’s for you

I see. I am checking them out. Thank you all!

Welcome to Wanikani! I’ve been using the textbook Genki for grammar. I think it’s great but I would definitely recommend focusing on kanji and vocab first. Tofugu says on their learning Japanese guide that you should learn around 300 kanji and 1000 vocabulary before starting grammar. Around level 10 on Wanikani. I’m past that but when using Genki I still have to occasionally look things up but at least it’s not every single sentence. Best of luck to you
