You confused something there. This is just a technicality where a certain term used for a piece of code (or rather several pieces of code that form a system) is changed. The SRS system stays the same, this only affects people who are programming userscripts.

We do want to make clear we have not changed the timings, number of stages, or the passing stage for the two existing spaced repetition systems. All that has changed, at this very moment, is how this data is being stored, read, and delivered.
