Hello community. Recently I studied again 文 and another kanjis that has alternative reading. In the case of 文 has “ふみ” as a alternative reading but I’d like if there is an option to review alternatives readings only. For instance, an option of choice review only ふみ in this case. Other example being “下” with “しも” or “moto”. Often I forget that readings because rarely see them.
下 as しも is worth learning - it’s quite common in place names, to the point where that if a place name starts with 下, there’s about a 90% chance the reading is しも, for example 下北沢 or 下吉田 or 下関. For 上, the equivalent reading is かみ, though that one’s not quite so prevalent, showing up maybe 75% of the time.
The other two, less so. They exist, sure, but I can count on the toes of one hand the number of times I’ve actually seen either of them in the wild. At some point, trying to learn every single reading is just a case of diminishing returns. It’s fine to be aware that they exist, but don’t spend the brainpower on it until you actually encounter it in a word, and then learn that word.
下 is read standalone as もと in a certain grammar point, just less common than 方 / 方 – の下で (JLPT N2) | Bunpro
Certainly there is standalone 文 too, but kinda old style.
I think there would slim chance that WaniKani would allow changing of correct / warn answer or Kanji emphasis, though it might be a good idea. (That’s why Feedback )
maybe an encouraging phrase like “Great! You’ve written an alternative reading”. The phrase would be painted in orange or green to view easily for example
しも、かみ are mainly in place names. ふみ in people’s names.
But I agree, it might be an useful option. As a non-English person, it would also be helpful to review alternative English meanings. Maybe it could be done in the way like you can review burned items separately.
