Fatal Twelve 1️⃣ 2️⃣ 💀 (Visual Novel Book Club) // Finished!

Bad Ending 3 here: Fatal Twelve - Walkthroughs - Fuwanovel Forums

I think the author of this one also posted it directly to Steam. It’s in English, though. For some reason I always have trouble following the Japanese guides :man_shrugging:

Huh, yeah, the JP guide doesn’t show that variation, but it seems like a short one, anyway, so we’ll deal with it when we get there!

Alright. I’ve got the first 5 weeks roughly planned out. I’m going to break for a quick lunch run and then keep chipping away at it. It pretty well just runs in the background for me now, and I just start paying closer attention once character count reaches ~20K to start looking for what seems like a reasonable stopping point based on scene transitions and the like!

Thanks for tagging me! I set the thread to watch and will reply when I have a little more time :slightly_smiling_face:

Alright, I’ve got a schedule through to our first ending. From there, I think that even after where we make a decision to push us towards the end, there is some overlap, but I didn’t notice until too late, so I can’t just press skip to check that because it’ll skip everything that auto-ran already. :upside_down_face:

So I’m taking a break from scheduling for now, and I’ll do some manual comparison afterwards so I can properly continue scheduling off of that! (Unless some kind soul here can run up to that point and do the skip and let me know where it diverges again. :stuck_out_tongue: )

And sorry, to be clear: There was some immediate divergence, which is why I threw it on auto again, and then when I checked in, I realized I was looking at something I had already seen, so it diverges, comes back, and then presumably diverges again, which is why I’ll either need to do manual comparison or employ a second person to run those skips. :stuck_out_tongue:

Apologies for being late to the party, but is the version from dlsite Windows-only?

I checked the Switch and Steam prices and it’s a little weird that the Nintendo store charges 40 euro for it T.T. Not sure if that version contains some extras or…

The compatible OS specifically says Linux (oddly enough, not Windows, but it works fine on Windows), so if you are using Linux, it should work fine. The only question would be Mac.

I believe there is a trial as well on the page. I’m on my phone at the moment, so I have a message that says 「体験版はPCでのみダウンロードが可能です。」but I’m about to hop onto the PC, so I’ll check. If there is actually a download link for the trial version on there, that could help determine if it will work for you or not.

I’m not aware of any special things on the Switch, but it’s possible they bundled some things in. 40 euro is definitely ridiculous. I spent like $7 and some change in the end from dlsite between the sale and their new user coupon.

I downloaded the Trial version. The game is written in Python (at least partially) and there is a Shell script wrapper to run it. Sound and mouse control works. Default version is JP. I’m going to buy the game later today  .

I’m glad it worked! I’m excited to have you join!

From what I looked up, apparently the console versions do have additional content. PS4 FATAL TWELVE and Gematsu mention the differences

The PlayStation 4 version will feature numerous additional event CG and scenario(s) written by the game’s original staff, as well as some refined visuals and both English and Japanese text options.

So if someone is playing on the ps4/switch, their schedule/character count won’t match us on PC.

Well crap… I just bought the dlsite version in the end. The visuals didn’t look so bad and there was the coupon as well so…

Well, that’s definitely a bit on the annoying side, but not much to be done about that, I suppose.

@Kassina, this will be something to keep in mind! Looks like there are some differences between the versions we weren’t aware of at the beginning, so you will likely have some extra content some weeks.

Alrighty, I’ve thrown up the schedule with what I have so far! I plan on working at least a little bit on getting some more of this done today, but I did receive an invite to a BBQ that I’ll be going to in the afternoon, so I won’t get nearly as much done as I did yesterday (plus the manual comparison for the bit where I didn’t realize it had come back together is going to take more time anyway). I also still need to do my reading for 9-nine, and that’s taking precedence for now since it’s on a much shorter timeline. :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, yes, I realize that it says each week will aim to be around 25k long, and most of the weeks are instead just over 23k, but seriously, stopping points around 25k are very few and far between. :joy: it’s usually either 23k or 30k for the most convenient stopping points. Quite odd.

Thanks for doing the work!
I’ve checked how many characters I read per week, and it’s only around 3k-5k at the moment. Limited by my skills and by my available time. So I won’t try joining this time around, it will have to wait a bit more that I up my speed :grimacing: (which will happen by itself when I’m done with Genki / Quartet / WK and can use all my time on READING and PLAYING  … which is probably in around a year :upside_down_face: )

Well, the nice thing about the clubs is even if you do pick it up later, there will always be people around who would love to talk about it with you as you read through it.

I definitely understand not being able to keep up pace, though. VNs are definitely a pretty big jump in difficulty just because there is so much content in comparison to most books/manga. In this case, I would probably rate Fatal Twelve as being similar to the upper-side of the Intermediate Club just based on the pace that we have to read to finish in a halfway-reasonable amount of time.

But, given what you’ve been reading in the clubs, I think that language-wise, you wouldn’t struggle too much with it. The language used is generally quite approachable, so reading at your own pace is always an option too!

Hehe yes, I’ll definitely be playing the game eventually, and I’ll probably post then, it’s always nice to read the reactions from the time the club was running and undust the threads
So see you in the future!

Definitely good to know! Thanks for the heads up. I did get the Switch version, though, since that’s by far my preferred way to read visual novels.

I’ll just follow along as best I can, even if the character counts are slightly off. The good news is I work in education and the summer’s definitely our quiet season, so I’ll have more time for VNs the next couple months! (even if I’ll get distracted in a couple weeks when Rain Code comes out…)

The UK PS4 store seems to have this game and it claims to be “Voice: Japanese; Screen Languages: English, Japanese”, which suggests it doesn’t need messing around with the Japanese PS4 store to buy a specifically Japanese edition. Is anybody able to confirm if that’s the right version?

Yes, that is the correct version. There is a settings option in the game that lets you switch between English and Japanese.

Thanks for all your hard work already @anon99047008. Knowing myself, I’d definitely only be cobbling things together a few days before each given week, so we’re in better hands here, haha.

Looking like a nice turnout is coming for this

Ooh, yeah, I love Danganronpa, but the stuff Too Kyo has made so far looks a little… questionable, to me. This one seems like it could be promising though, and I’ve been debating if I want to give it a shot in Japanese.
