Perhaps this is linked elsewhere, but this site has a bunch of graded reader fairy tales. The kanji is extremely light, only using the most basic of kanji, but honestly it’s fun grammar practice for a more whimsical format. Wanikani helps indirectly here by teaching a lot of the vocabulary you encounter, whether or not the kanji is written down in the story One or two typos here and there in the notes, but it’s mostly fine. I found myself able to follow along quite well, I recommend the story of Urashima. It contains a paragraph of straight Japanese, followed by a line by line translation, followed by some quick vocabulary notes.
Enjoy!
