Does this sentence structure make sense?

“私はりんごを切る用いる刀” supposed to mean “i cut apple using a sword”. if not, how to properly format it? thanks,

私は刀でりんごを切る

The で particle indicates “by means of” (i.e. using).

Using the particle で is of course correct and probably most natural.

If you absolutely wanted to use 用いる (which is not necessarily advised, since it’s rather technical and formal-sounding) you could say 刀を用いてりんごを切る, and then swapping out 用いる for the more typical 使う would also be fine.

you might also want to drop the 私は, unless the context requires it. so you’d have:

刀でりんごを切る。
