Day 2 with Wanikani

Is less exciting than day 1! LOL, but I think we all know that.

I’ve started in on Genki 1, Chapter 1 today as well, using Memrise on my phone to study its vocabulary. I’m planning on pulling ahead on the vocabulary if I naturally can, regardless of my place in the book, since learning grammar is mostly independent from learning vocabulary.

About how long ought Genki 1 take me to get through if I study an hour-ish a day?

It depends on how you study, everyone studies differently. For me what I did was read around 1 chapter a week which I kind of sped through in 1-2 days, but I would read in order to solidify what I learned to make up for not doing exercises or paying as much attention to the examples and such.

If you’ve taken a Japanese course before and are just using it as a refresher, it will probably go pretty quickly - especially at the beginning. Of course it also depends on how much of the exercises you do from the text and workbook. So I don’t think anyone can really give a definitive answer, but if you try it every day for a week, you should be able to get a pretty good idea for yourself.
