I used realkana too, but I physically said out loud what each one was before I typed it. I do the same thing here too, I say out loud what the word is in hiragana (even if it is asking for the english answer I still say the hiragana version)

Iām not sure i catch your point here. It isnāt letter association. It is shorthand.
It really doesnāt take much to add the synonyms. Think of all that extra time you could have to write facetious comments online.

Nope. Itās just shorthand.
I reckon I shave at least half the time off my reviews without sacrificing accurate retention of meaning.
How could you know that?
And just out of curiosity, what is your overall accuracy?

Also - there is a script that brings up the item info whether your answer is right or wrong
And just to clarify what Iām talking aboutā¦ I remember when I first unlocked č , I think I answered āsledgeā for like 3 days. If I had made the synonym āsā on the first day, I might have never realized that the meaning is āsedgeā.

It may not be 100% perfect but I am willing to risk one or two wrong meanings for every couple of hundred. Those can get ironed out later. I just wanted to save a few newbies all that typing.
Does it take you exceptionally long to do reviews? Weāre talking about single words 95% of the time. The core content is the last thing Iād intentionally sacrifice.

For what itās worth, I solely used realkana.com to learn my kana. I didnāt have this problem at all. Honestly, Iām a bit confused as to how you did. Donāt you have to think about what the answer is before you think about/start typing it? Maybe Iām misunderstanding what youāre saying.

Ha. No. Thatās the point. I can do my reviews much quicker with this system.
So far, Iāve done 52,000 meaning reviews. I am probably saving five or six keystrokes per item. Thatās significant I should think.
It doesnāt undermine anything and it saves a lot of time.
You know what I was asking. You presumably havenāt done this since the moment you signed up. Do you have a physical disability or something that makes typing difficult (not being facetious)? Just trying to understand. The time difference for typing is negligible compared to the time spent thinking of the right answer for most people, Iād wager.

No. No disability.
I just like saving time.
Ultimately I think that this advice shouldnāt be followed. Youāre settling in to use this site for years and I canāt see shaving a small amount of time from your reviews at the expense of potentially harming your years worth of learning on this site as advisable.

Typing out āevil begets evilā after thinking of the answer reinforces it. Typing out āebeā creates a connection that only benefits by shaving a small amount of time off reviews.

Well, I typed out everything, and got to level 60 in a little over a year. It worked out fine.
Interesting that you chose a pretty obscure yojijukugo as your example. My concern is more with all the very similar kanji compounds that you encounter that are all going to be basically the same letters as each other, even if they mean different things.
