I think I will soon Hit another Wall learning Grammar.
- I’ve tried to do an exercises of Genki 2 Chapter 13, but couldn’t (vocabulary)
- the example Sentences of JFZ 3 have Grammar Points that I can’t remember anymore what they mean or that I’ve already learned them.
I will Finish vol 3 and then I will Pick a book to read and use Bunpro and A Dictonary of … Japanese Grammar. I Hope that will give me enough repetition (Grammar) and enhance the amount of vocabulary that I already know.

I Just finished Japanese from Zero Vol. 3. The exercises were still doable.

I’ve made my decision. The next book I will read is Kitty Detectives vol. 1. Maybe I will still start in 2025.

A few days ago I started learning Kanji with “Kanji Look and learn + Workbook”. It teaches you 512 Kanji. I’ve learned around 80 already. Most of These Kanji are ones I’ve already learned with Wanikani. But I already think that writing (with the correct Stroke Order) is probably the better learning method for me.

I started Reading the First Chapter of Kitty Detectives vol. 1. There are still Grammar Points (and a lot of vocabulary) that I don’t now yet.
I wonder If I should continue with textbook-learning or If I should try to learn the Grammar Points in the Order in which they appear in the book. But for that I have to find Out what Kind of Grammar Point it is.
And I need to find a way to learn vocabulary. Maybe physical flashcards would Work better than SRS Apps.

I tried using the vocabulary list and the book Club thread, but it takes too much time and the thread is too chaotic.
Edit
I Put one Sentence into Chat GPT for a Translation and an explanation of the Grammar Points. It was even able to Tell me in which chapters of Genki and Quartet I can find These Grammar Points. It seems I have to do all four books If I want to really understand what I’m Reading.

I’ve learned ~120 Kanji with “Kanji Look and learn”. There are now more Kanji (+ words) that I don’t know yet and I’ve decided to continue with Japanese from Zero Vol. 4.
- Reading the Grammar Points
- writing down the example sentences
- Translation without looking is not possible yet
I will continue with “Kanji Look and learn” after vol. 4 or 5.

Tomorrow I will start my Low effort season. The Rules are to do Things that don’t need a lot of braincells. This year I don’t feel tried because of the darkness, but the Motivation isn’t very high. The Goal is to still do 3 hours of studying.
Low effort:
- Reading Tadoku
- Vocabulary
- Kanji
- Watching Tokini Andy (Genki, Quartet, 54 Videos)
- Repeating Genki 1
High effort:
- Genki 2
- JFZ 4&5
- Reading a book/manga
Weekends are an exception from This Experiment, because I don’t have to Work. They are reserved for Grammar studies.

I watched all 12 Videos of Genki 1 by Tokini Andy and created 232 flashcards. Because I’ve already known a lot of the easy basics, I was able to understand the more complicated things better.
I will now do the / some exercises of Genki 1 again and then continue with Genki 2.
Unfortunately I didn’t spend as much time studying as I wanted.

I watched the Videos of Genki 2 by Tokini Andy and read some Tadoku.
I also tried lesson 6 of Genki 1 but I lack a lot of vocabulary. I will create physical flashcards of the dictionary, te- and masu-form and the Translation of all Verbs of Genki 1.
Edit: I will try to learn vocabulary properly again and will read the Grammar Points of Genki 1 and Genki 2.

I think buying Bunpro Lifetime was the right choice. It feels easy to use (after one year of studying) while I don’t have enough Motivation / strength for learning with textbooks.
At the moment I’m repeating a lot of the Things that I’ve already learned. And I understand the example sentences now.

Hi,
I just wanted to tell you that you got this and you can achieve your goals too
Time might be the factor, but consistency and never giving up are the keys to reach those goals you aspire to
I noticed you’re concentrating on a lot of grammar and I wanted to recommend this series by Cure Dolly, which might interest you and help you interact/learn the grammar in a different, but interesting way
You may need to watch the same video twice or thrice, so be patient with it and you’ll be exposed to an amazing world of understanding the language
I have a question for you regarding the books you showed a photo of at a certain point above, I’m assuming you’re living in Germany, how did you order these books and was the price ok?
Wishing you best of luck

Thank you for your Tip, but I can’t stand Cure dollys voice. I tried.
I bought the books from verasia.de. it’s more expensive than bookwalker (the books), but the shipping fee is Just ~ 3€. They are shipping from spain. And you can contact them If you want to buy a book that they don’t offer.

Oh, appreciate it a lot
Totally understandable. It was hard for me at the beginning, but I think I got used to it after a bit.
Another option you can try (might be helpful) is to use the subtitles available for her videos. I think she mentions in the second episode that her videos have subtitles, just in case it’s hard to understand her voice
I remembered that there’s also a list of resources here on the forum, which you can check out to see if you can find something to help you

I’ve started to use Bunpro a few days ago. My current plan is to use it for N5 and N4 / Genki 1&2, then doing the exercises of Genki 2 + Workbook and then I want to try to read another book/manga. But I haven’t decided yet which one.

Oh, I think that’s a great choice for grammar. I also started using Bunpro for N5 grammar, but I’m taking things slowly per se. In regard to Genki, I could recommend this for Genki 1 and this for Genki 2, which could help you and assist you along the journey if needed
Consistency and taking things on your own pace are key to achieve your goal
regarding books/manga, I think there are other people, who know better about that, since I haven’t started with any and have no current knowledge in that regard
I think there are book clubs on the forums that you can join and you can maybe ask there for some advice
