Can't get on with lesson even though my answer is correct

Am I missing something…?

You wrote にゆう by mistake; it’s actually にゅう (written “nyuu”) with a little ゆ instead of a big one.

Thank you for this. I’ll keep an eye out and also have a read. I can understand the hira-and kata- but wasn’t aware that it needs to be written particularly. Learn something new every day. Or in this case, learn…a lot of things new!

Keep in mind that these are pronounced differently as well. With にゅう maybe it’s not so impactful, because there is no word pronounced にゆう, but with, say, 十… if you write じゅう it’s correct and means 10, but if you write じゆう that’s a different word (自由 freedom).

Ah, okay. So, for にゅう spoken it would be accented as:

Nyuu (like ‘new’)

differentiated from:

Niyuu (like ‘knee you’)

Yeah, that’s spot on.
