I see where you’re coming from, but this would inadvertently serve to damage WK’s reputation. If people come away with a sub-par learning experience, that ultimately reflects on WK as a product, as far as marketing, word of mouth goes, etc… So they do have a lot to consider, even when the fault would ultimately lie with the user.
That’s an interesting argument, thank you.
I see what your saying - however from my point of view…
People use Wanikani for a variety of reasons.
I don’t think the majority who ‘abuse’ the ignore script are doing so to race to lvl 60 - but it is very easy to convince yourself that ‘i knew that, i was just rushing’, or ‘i knew that, i’m just tired’ ect.
I also don’t really think you can cheat on wanikani - if someone pays a subscription and wants to use the ignore script then no worries. The people of wanikani are coming at it from a variety of different situations, and have a variety of motivations.
Finally although you may not ‘abuse’ it, as @Radish8 pointed out …
…the evidence would suggest not all people have the same ability to resist temptation !
I think the ability to use scripts to personalize the Wanikani experience is pretty damn great, and hits a really good balance. You pay for the service, and this is a feature, if you want it - so …

Wanikani i’m sure would welcome your feedback @monzobonzo ! they seem a very friendly bunch.
Not so sure about that. The Feedback forum description, which is pinned to the top of it, explicitly lists two things “not worth posting about.”
- WaniKani is too slow
- Let me undo a wrong answer (because I typed a typo, or really any reason at all).
And this topic is the latter.
